I'm curious to know what will be included for those (apparently few) of us using Studio. I really hope that Replace Synth is included. I've desired that ever since I started using Sonar. I also wonder if SonarPlus will work with X2, or better yet, if SonarPlus's functions will be a part of X2 so that those of us who don't like MultiDock can bypass it. I know that the gentleman who gave us SonarPlus is now working for Cakewalk, so there's hope.

I have to admit,I posted before, before I'd watched the 59 second promo. It looks alright, although you have to wonder what the gag about "connection lost" alludes to? Thankfully,it basically looks like a major upgrade of X1,so hopefully not a whole new learning curve, and YES,those of us who already have X1D Producer Expanded,I do hope OUR upgrade costs, are in line with the fact that we have BOUGHT EVERYTHING POSSIBLE ALREADY!,and our move to X2,won't be like starting over! synkrotron Mod Bod What's the difference b/w a take lane and a layer? Anyone know? I think they are one and the same and the poster simply used jargon from another product. "Take Lanes" is a new X2 term... Thanks. I missed that and saw it this evening. I wonder what it's about now.

cclarry xabiton John If it make you feel better I got GR5 for $79 last month. I just bought Kontakt 5 for $59. LOL I would have paid more for Kontakt. where did you find Kontakt for $59!!! I need that in my life I was ready to pay $140 for a crossgrade only to have my car go down and me have to use that money to replace my starter +1....Ditto that...I'd of turned a backflip to get it for $59....I was REALLY tempted to pay the $140 and then the $199 for Komplete...but didn't..and NOW I'm happy I didn't....I got a whole lot more usefulness for a whole lot less thanx to the Waves Voucher program... If you guys want to get these deals just sign up for Native Instruments e-mail notices. Yeah it can be a pain deleting from time to time but I got Guitar Rig 5 Pro upgrade from 4 Pro for $39.00 and they offer other good deals like the one John speaks of too..

FastBikerBoy stevec Automation lanes are an option in SONAR X2. You can still use X1 style automation as you always have. In SONAR X2 you have the choice of using automation on top of clips (using Edit Filter) or using automation lanes. You can change at will at any time. Nice. I've got my fingers crossed for a pop up over the ghosted data, that'll keep me happy. BIG time!

Yup, everything looks all gooey good...bright and shiny right now...yippie yay! Think I'll wait, as per usual, till the rubber meets the dang road. Do have to admit I found the constant "lost connection...re-establishing connection" bits in the video rather puzzling. Hope this isn't a subtle hint as to what the future of X2 might hold.

xabiton As for your soundcard.. I'm having a few audio troubles too. a lot of my troubles went away with proper system tweaks.. You are using windows 7 home premium? Even with system tweaks, I am getting the occasional dropout, but nothing like it was before.. plus, I think Cakewalk knows it, and they have probably done some tweaking for X2... I'm not worried though about the whole, "paid update/upgrade." thing.. I know some guys have complaints.. but you know.. when you want to the next model car, or the next model tv, or the next model software... :-) cheers Are you using Balance as well? I am on Windows 7 home premium yes. When I called support on this issue the first time they had no idea what Balance was or Propellerhead for that matter. It was very disencouraging to say the least but I called last week spoke with a guy named Dan who had been helping me via e-mail support (though sometimes waiting over a month to email me back) and apparently this issue will not be fixed in x1. I am definately demoing X2 first but if these issues are not fixed I am highly considering going Studio One 2 Professional with a crossgrade rather than Sonar X2 Producer Expanded which is where I will likely go if I upgrade with Cakewalk. I love the Cakewalk plug ins and have not had a single issue with those in any environment I have tried them in. SORRY FOR THE OFF TOPIC TO ALL OTHERS...I COULD NOT HELP MYSELF Hi xabiton Are you saying that Cakewalk rep Dan is acknowledging there is an issue with Sonar and your BSOD’s. The reason I ask is that this makes no sense. I may be reading it wrong. I agree with some of what LP is saying...usually a BSOD with the cache manager error message is one of a few things...you point out one of them there are others... failing RAM and/or hard drive, not enough memory (RAM) on the machine, miss-matched RAM, bad device drivers or something starting up in Windows. My gut is that this has nothing to do with Sonar needs a patch but its more something with the PC. The thing is what if you go and buy another DAW and have the same issues? Try the demo 1 st. Every 3-5 years I have to re-install Windows so I keep an extra hard disk drive around to install to and run a dual boot. I can then copy what I need from on drive to the other. Jut a thought on what LP said about re-installing windows. Or go buy some matched RAM from the store test it and bring it back if it still crashes. Hate to see someone not being able to use a DAW like X1. Good luck brother. -Meno (John)

Ionian Does anyone know if Cakewalk is going to come to their senses and return the phase and stereo interleave buttons BACK to each individual track? I purchased that abortion known as X1 and haven't used it once, the minute I realized that Cakewalk crippled it by removing them. If I could have gotten my money back, I would have. I've stayed at 8.5. Hopefully Cake will start focusing on professionals again. Although I've managed to talk 3 people out of buying X1 by showing them X1 and how it's been crippled since 8.5 so I'm happy about that! If I couldn't get my money back for X1, at least I took 3 sales away from cakewalk. Regards, Frank this is just silly, have you thought about you may have very well also robbed 3 users out of owning a very good software that runs good forthem? just cause you have issues with it doesnt mean everyone else will. all of us that report smooth sailing are not just making it up. thats selfish and childish.you should be ashamed of yourself.

Console emulation indicates non-linear summing, a-la Waves and Slate plugins. Zo has some great videos on his youtube channel that are worth checking out for more indepth info. ProChannel is just a modular channel strip which simply emulates in that respect.

Charlie I missed that post. I am a bit dumbfounded by the nature of it. To brag on the CW forum that he turned away 3 customers is downright insane especially since the items were not removed just move to a better place. How idiotic. It shows ignorance of the product and a very bad attitude toward it and CW. I don't often find myself wondering about the motives of posters but here one has to wonder. I have said too many times RTFM. If he had done so think of the difference that would have made.

Okay... after slapping my guit around for I while I have bled a bit of the poison from my soul and can think a little more clearly. If I still have access to Cake support... cool. That's what was freaking me out the most. I do actually like to let hi tech products sink in for a bit too to make sure I'm not fixing something that ain't broke only to have it break and I'm still bumbling my way around learning the Sonar way so I don't mind sitting on what I have and in fact prefer it which is why I was hoping X1 would stick around for a while longer. Doesn't matter. It works and if something screws up the boys will be there for me. Perfect. As far as X2 I guess if there was a $50 upgrade for me that would be acceptable. If it is a $100... meh... okay I guess. Any more than that I think it might leave a bit of a bitter taste but whatever. That's life. I have very much been enjoying X1 so far so don't take me as a kvetcher but I am pretty... uh "thrifty" because I don't have any other choice. I literally starved myself to get this set up bought and running. There just isn't any more to give. Knowaddimean? Cheers guys and thanks for the answers. I feel better now.

And yes the automation lanes look great. I am not particularly looking forward to dealing with any in depth automation procedures as it is in X1. Looks like trying to sort spaghetti. I'm sure there are tricks to it but I do like seeing everything isolated... especially with my failing eyesight... and what the heck is a Breverb?

Before this change you didn't even need the inspector, saving lots of valuable screen real estate. So now my I key is wore out turning the inspector on and off. :) Really? You use the phase and stereo buttons that often? I think I have used the stereo one once. I have had no reason to use the phase button at all. The Inspector was also in 8. Its better now though. I was one that asked CW to add functions to it. I also wanted it to be much as it is now. So you are not going to be able to find any fault with it from my view point. Sorry. I really like it as it now is. To me its a huge improvement. The other thing that I like is the fact the height of a track is not as important as it used to be in order to use or even see track widgets. The Inspector takes care of all the widgets, grouping them in a useful way and one I don't have to customize in order to use. What I think is those that complain about the changes in the GUI often overlook what it has meant to many of us that wanted these changes. Not only do I except them but I find them important for my workflow. You have a very different view and you have a right to it. But keep in mind that it was that way before and it was found wanting. Give this GUI its due and perhaps you will see how useful it is to most of us.

Linear Phase xabiton I was using Avast until a few days ago but before that I had Kapursky didn't seem to make a difference I have had em all and they have all more or less given me problems. As far as Asio-latency I cannot open Sonar without getting a BSOD so sending screen shots would not work. Its currently not even installed because I got so frusterated. I think I may have bad ram though because when I get the BSOD its usually a Cache_manager warning but again this only happens in Sonar no issues running Live or Reason or Cubase LE. Free anti-virus? meh! :-) there is some OK free anti-spyware.. ( spybot, adaware se, malwarebytes ) but free anti-virus has always given me a headache. BSOD? Really, every time you open up Sonar? If that is really the case, than its got to be affecting your other software, whether or not you have seen the effect. I'm not a computer pro by any stretch of the imagination, but I am totally curious now.. so.. um.. What's your computer make, and model, when did you buy it, and where? How much ram was in the machine when you bought it, and who installed the extra ram? What type of ram, and what brand? You are using windows 7 home premium, 64 bit? besides the ignition key, that is in the Reason balance what are your other dongles, and types of copy protect? what are your monitors? will reason balance work with Asio4All? When was the last time you did a system backup and restore? Have you thought about re-installing windows? I have not had a BSOD on Windows 7. The last time I saw a BSOD on windows was in 2007, just before I switched to Mac, and had a pentium 4 that was several years old.. Since returning to Windows, and these new cheap modern multi-core machines... no BSOD's.. yet.. knock on wood... cheers http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+15.6%26%2334%3B+Series+7+Laptop+-+8GB+Memory+-+1TB+Hard+Drive+-+Silver/5575679.p?id=1218665501364&skuId=5575679&st=samsung%207%20series&cp=1&lp=2 That is my laptop 8 gigs of ram stock never needed to upgrade. bought it in February I have reinstalled windows and the problems never really changed I did since that post do a cache update that Samsung released recently and now Sonar at least opens and runs ok but the vst scanner crashes everytime I try to use it. No other dongles I try to keep my setup dongle free but I love Reason and its my favorite music making program (sorry Cakewalk) so the ignition key was worth dealing with for me. No other copy protection other than the software e licenser on my system for a few arturia synths I am demoing. Balance works with Asio4all but its own drivers are much better. I did a system back up and restore about a month ago maybe 2 months. That avast was a headache to get rid of though had to contact their support to do a clean uninstall Cakewalk tech support said that any anti virus will screw up Sonar. I couldn't install it completely at one point but since doing that update i was able to at least get a successful install of X1a and I am currently downloading B C and D so I can be on the latest update and maybe even ditch my issues with the vst scanner which is a new issue that usually does not happen in Sonar. But since updating my Cache deal from Samsung I have had no problems with Sonar besides the vst scanner *knock on wood* if I can get Sonar working as advertised 85-95% of the time (i am a 10 year reason owner I am spoiled by stability) I will preorder X2 Producer just to show I have no ill feelings towards Cakewalk though I know release updates are buggier than an ant farm

cecelius2 mmarton pdlstl xabiton That console emulation looks like a load of fun. I am wondering what the new model is if I remember right the current ones are a neve and a ssl in producer right? what is this A model? I have Slate VCC and the A console in it is the API. The SONAR console emulation is going to have to be pretty bada** to slay the Slate VCC. 2¢ I also have Slate VCC, so I'm wondering if this new console emulation in X2 is proprietary or "licenced". And agreed, pretty tall order to outdo the Slate VCC. I am interested in what the "new console emulation" will be. Sonar X1 prochannel already has modules for an SSL type console; so I hope this will be something other than another SSL type console. Anyone have a clue if the TH2 will be a spripped down lite version or the real deal? I don't own Overloud's TH2 and this addition might be a nice supplement to GR, Amplitube and the greatest of all boutique amp sims, the Scuffham S-Gear. I am thinking its an Api console. It would make sense seeing that the S type (ssl) and N type (neve) are already kinda obvious A type seems like a strong suggestion
