Re: R-Mix I bought the free-standing program (pre-ordered, even) for $199 when it first came out. Underwhelming. Played with it for an hour a month ago, and haven't looked at it since. I think it was COMPUTER MUSIC that gave it a 6/10.

Well, the new audio engine is 64 bit 384 Khz...but it still doesn't seem to be gapless.. It says...addresses gapping in common operations..

The new snapping feature looks really nice. It was about time they addressed that feature!

ampfixer What I find truly interesting is that they seem to have killed off Expanded. It looks like one Pro Channel for everyone, and back to 3 versions in the good, better, best format. Thank goodness that nonsense may be coming to an end. And good on them for putting some work into the existing 64 bit plugs. I'm with you on these thoughts as well...

AGershon Lynn I just saw the video, and I'm excited. They added most of the feature requests that I asked for, so I'm looking forward to this version. Imagine, take and automation lanes! The list of new things will keep me busy for a while. I guess I can wait 3 more weeks. What's the difference b/w a take lane and a layer? Anyone know? I think they are one and the same and the poster simply used jargon from another product.

Some good worthwhile improvements on the way. Please, please, please none of the quality issues we saw at X1's release and please can we have as many persisting long standing issues as possible squashed for good? If it's in there lets have it working and not just working but working well. Thank you.

pdlstl xabiton That console emulation looks like a load of fun. I am wondering what the new model is if I remember right the current ones are a neve and a ssl in producer right? what is this A model? I have Slate VCC and the A console in it is the API. The SONAR console emulation is going to have to be pretty bada** to slay the Slate VCC. 2¢ I also have Slate VCC, so I'm wondering if this new console emulation in X2 is proprietary or "licenced". And agreed, pretty tall order to outdo the Slate VCC.

Reposting this here: Hmm... looks interesting however I have a few concerns which I'm hoping aren't going to be a problem for me. And this isn't necessarily meant to be griping but I see this being something that will irk me quite a bit. So I bought the Production Suite at the start of May. I paid full price for it. Shortly after that (like the next month) all the crazy deals came out. Okay, fine. Just my stupid luck I guess. Now there is going to be a full PAID upgrade. Well I've already blown my budget for DAW stuff. It's gone. No more money except for a few necessities that were on my original shopping list. My concern is... what's gonna happen to a customer like me? Is X1 going to continue to be supported? If so that's fine. The second issue is if I had known there was going to be a whole new version coming out I probably would have waited. I've essentially paid full price for something that will be outdated after only a few months. Is this going to be considered when X2 comes out? I will be very very disappointed if I get shafted here. It'd be different if I happened to get on board with those deals or had any inkling that X1 was at the end of it's life cycle but I based my purchase on the info available at the time. Again, not trying to gripe here but it would nice to know what, if anything, can be done for someone in my situation. I saw someone up thread mention that if they JUST purchased X1 the upgrade will be free. Is that factual? By me buying it in May at full price would I be included in this? I have barely started using the software due to the massive learning curve and hardware conflicts that had not been documented. I understand this is how things work out sometimes but it seems I have basically made my purchase at the absolute worst possible time. Anyway... I hope everyone is having a good day. Cheers.

"You never know, Maybe they will do something cool like Propellerhead did and let you name your own price. That was a big success for them. ;)" That is a different scenario. They were giving Reason/Record users the shaft on the upgrade. It would have been a big failure if they didn't come out with that for Reason/Record users. This was when Studio One was the new DAW on the market.

Just suck it up and belly up to the bar, be happy there's an upgrade version to upgrade to....Compare to Opcode Studio Vision...there's no upgrade available to that !! An upgrade price from Producer or the Production Suite shouldn't be that much anyhow.

The answer is that X1 what you have won't stop working because there is a new version out - you don't have to upgrade. Although it is always annoying when the price drops after you just bought something, I can't imagine that anyone could realistically expect any retail business to say - "don't buy this now, 'cos the price is going down next week"

@cake2010... No worries. It was quite a flurry of research getting this all together as it was because I was completely updating my entire set up. I had to deal with computer (which I built), monitors, headphones, interface, the whole shebang as well as the software. The X1 Suite seemed like the right choice for me (and I explored all avenues in that regard). I can chalk certain things up to just my horrible luck but you can see how this might be a little bothersome. Just trying to figure out if any accommodations will be made for a fellow like myself. As I said I paid the premium price for this software only a few months ago. Then the price dropped almost immediately. I was hoping that there might be at least one more update or I'd get to use the software for a year before it became outdated. You can see how that might be bothersome. I'll just have to see what happens. I'm not trying rag on Cake here but I hope that they have kept these things in mind. When it comes down to it full support is my biggest issue. If that is off the table then yes... I will be upset. Otherwise I'll just be annoyed.

Wow this looks exciting. Not a huge fan of automation lanes, I prefer them over the actual wave . This is awesome that you can do both! I am very interested to hear the reverb. If your like me, you can never have enough reverbs. I wouldn't mind a new delay, something like the Fabfilter delay plug in. This might get more use than reverb in alot of situations. Of course, we could probably all name 20 things we "want" included :) I'm exciting for it. It's almost unfortunate, I never open my Pro Tools anymore. I used to prefer some of the included plug ins, but I think X1, and certainly X2 will have them beat in the 'quality plug' department. ( my opinion of course)

@Beepster I wouldn't worry about it. You are now locked in to affordable upgrades. Look at it that way. Sometimes waiting for the better deal to happen doesn't. That's the way the software market works.

Beepster, I wouldn't worry too much. The trend has been to make the upgrade price very low. It used to be $179. Than with 8.5 it went down to $99. Expanded came in at $49 on sale. So I don't think you will be locked out due to price. Than you can wait a bit for a sale if you want. Early adopters always pay a little more. But they get the product to use earlier. Plus they are able to be helpful to other members about it. Answer questions and find the bugs. Your X1 will not be unusable and you still can make music with it until you are able to upgrade. So don't be upset or concerned. Besides by watching this forum you will learn what works well and what is broken. It will prepare you for what will be coming. I look forward to its release and hope it will live up to expectations. It sounds to me like an evolution of X1. I was hoping for better notation though.

@kitekrazy... Yeah I hear ya. I just want to know the Bakers thoughts on this or the other users. As I said I am new to these products so I'm not sure how it all works and someone did mention the possibility that something might be done for folks like myself. Unfortunately some of the other forum users are taking that as whining or bashing Cake. Very disappointing really because that is NOT what I'm doing. I have nothing to bash them for as I don't even know their stance on the issue yet. Peace.
