I had most of those already on the list, except for Vintage Warmer.  The PSP84 doesn't say is 64 bit native (unless you are confirming that it is?).

Yep, PSP84 has been 'public beta' for around 6 months. You get to see it if you go to the web account page and ask 'show beta versions'. Hasn't given me any problems so far, but I don't use it very much.

The Neon x64 isn't very stable in Sonar, however, and can give you some nasty speaker killing bursts of static. Apparently it does the same in Digital Performer. Hubert knows about it but isn't sure how to fix it. It's on my 'do not use' list at the moment.

I don't see Yellow Tools Independence mentioned in this thread, It's been 64 bit since October, so one to add to the list Jose.

Not sure if this is already on the list but AAS have made their x64 plans very clear their whole line up will have x64 native versions very soon. Makes that recent no brainer $15 Ultra Analog deal even better!

I may even buy Tassman again now since their plugins will be x64. I just hope they come with a version 5 for it soon. That Modular synth has potential if developed right.

This is great news! AAS is a great company. I've always had great support from them and their synths are great as well. AND the 64 bit update is free to registered users, of which I am one, this is great as well.

Wave Arts has just sent me a email stating that their plugins are now 64bit compatible. The plugs first had 64bit beta's but now the official 64bit versions are released. I really like where this company is headed with their new modeling technology, Tube Saturator is awesome and they stated more emulations that are likewise precise are comming.  Here's a link - www.wavearts.com

PS. This is the year 64bit will take off like it should.

Attalus,

There are only two of their plugs that mention 64 bit and those are the new Tube and Channel plugins.

Can you confirm that none of their plugs is using Bitbridge under Sonar 64 bit?  Thanks!

You need to go to the download section and choose x64bit platform to see the x64bit versions for all their plugins. One needs to download Powersuite bundle or master restoration bundle to get to most individual plugins. The only way to get the x64bit installer for most individual plugins is to download the bundle. See here - http://wavearts.com/downloads/

I have not tested the plugins yet to verify if their true Native x64 bit plugins or not since it will take a couple more weeks before i can install my Windows 7 x64 O/S. Someone else can test sooner than me if they wish since there are demo installers and they are the same as the commercial ones just need a license key to go beyond 30 day trial period.

Amplitube 3 is only 32-bit. It does seem to behave very well under BitBridge in Sonar x64, at least so far. I did speak to someone at Amplitube and they don't understand the need for it to be 64-bit; perhaps someone who can explain the advantages to them and users if they make it native 64-bit can PM me the details and I will pass it on to them. It had features I did need and I got a good upgrade deal from Amplitube2 Live which I'd bought the no-brainer deal, so I bought it even being 32-bit, but I'd love to get them to see the advantages of native 64-bit.

Many companies think that the responsibility falls under the x86 bridge. They for whatever reason don't get the concept of people wanting native x64. To have to explain it is a waste at this point in time because they have made up their mind. They'll make the drivers so the hardware will work, but seem to think that is as far as they need to go.

Thankfully, there are a bunch of companies that understand the benefit of being native to the x64 system and are either working on it or at the very least acknowledge the need in future updates.

AT3 works in the bridge for sonar quite well, but I just don't think it that that should be the end.

Same here. It was a great price and it's a killer application and, for me, just far enough ahead of GR4 for me consider buying the 32 bit application.

What worries me the most is future proofing, look what happened with EZDrummer and Sonar 8.5, it had worked fine in 8.3 64 bit but no joy in 8.5 unless you used JBridge. And who is to say the next Windows service pack does not make some 32 bit VSTs stop working under bit bridge.

Some companies are yet to see a commercial advantage as it's not denting their sales too much at the moment ,  I have passed on a number of things i would have otherwise considered buying because they are 32 bit only, but the majority of DAW users still seem to be on Windows XP.

@ Attalus,

No worries.  A friend of mine confirmed that they are indeed native 64 bit.  Thanks!

@ Freddie,

Thanks for the update.  Those are really nice plugs so I'm glad they have ported them to 64 bit.  Thanks dude!

@ Phoenix,

Besides what Barnes said, which is more than enough reason on its own, it is simply not efficient to have a wrapper working behind the scenes when they can simply port AT3 to work natively in a 64 bit OS.  Right now any 32 bit plugin has to go through two wrappers, WOW64 and Bitbridge in order to be recognized by both the OS and Sonar, so those are added layers of processing on an already process intensive plugin.

Another reason is that, if IK uses hardware drivers for AT3 like NI does for GR4, then it means people on 64 bit rigs won't be able to use the hardware and thus will opt not to buy AT3 (assuming they want to use the hardware).  At the very least it will force those people to stay in the 32 bit world, and that may not be an option for some.

It seems that 64 bit is not a priority for them right now.  But, if they want to survive in this market, they will have to port at some point in the near future.  The next OS, Windows 8 (to be released in 2012?), will be 64 bit only so everyone will eventually need to get on board the 64 bit wagon.  It's just a matter of time :-)

Take care everyone!

Soon there won't be a need to keep track of the plugins that are 64 bit.  Instead, the list will be about those which have not been ported over :-P
