@Chris, Actually, PSP Vintage Warmer has been 64 bit since version 2. It was on the list in the OP of this thread. Haven't been in the Toontrack site for a while though. I'll check if Superior and EZDrummer for the full 64 bit version (though I'm quite happy with the beta, tbh). @Glyn, Thanks for that list. I've added them all to the OP. @Vicsant, Windows 8 is rumored to be 128 bit, but that's not confirmed yet. AFAIK, Microsoft hasn't revealed much about it yet. But the estimated release date is indeed 2012 (though that may change as well). Take care all!

So based on the W7, 64 bit experience, W8 128 bit should have hardware and driver support by around 2014 or 2015?

@Chris, That's probably what they mean, yes. Makes sense. @Vicsant, Well, that would totally suck, wouldn't it? Again, the 128 bit part is just a rumor and not something that has been confirmed yet. Not much is known about W8, so I guess we'll see what happens. Take care!

I think it would be of more use to in the box with all the VSti's being more and more powerful. But who would of thought not to long ago that you can have it all in one box. And if you can't do it now I bet next year with Intel Sandy Bridge and AMD Bulldozer coming I think we will take it all for granted.

Well I converted from Win7 32 bit to Win7 64bit 2 weeks ago. My conclusion is - what a lot of crap about very little. In terms of how it affects the average user the answer is clearly - almost zero. The only difference I've noticed in using Sonar 8 is that it runs slightly faster - that's all. It loads and processes things just a little faster. Was it slow in 32 bit - no. Could I care less that it's 2 secs faster in 64 bit to convert wav files to mp3's - no. Did it affect any of my old 32 bit programs or plugins - no, they all still work the same. For me it's just another huge fuss over next to nothin. I'm talkin about the fuss made by both sides of the debate. If you're thinkin of spending your hard earned $$ to convert from 32 bit to 64 bit - don't bother.

LOL That's flamebait and x64 only means one thing to us dawers.....access to more ram. Nothing else, no "better sound", not faster, not anything. Simply MORE RAM ACCESS. Sorry to be so blunt, but you have to have the facts straight

Newsurfer, I'm sorry 64 bit wasn't what you expected it to be. But it's been said a million times in this forum that the biggest advantage to a full 64 bit environment is in the RAM access. Naturally, if you just work mainly with audio, this is not gonna make much of a difference to you. But it makes a HUGE, like HUGE difference to people like us, who use big sample library containing 100's of GB of RAM. I couldn't move any of my projects to a 32 bit Sonar, not happening. Most of them are already over 4GB so they just wouldn't open, period. If you're not part of that crowd, then of course you'll not be impressed. Should've asked here, in the forum, before making the move.

There has just been a Superior Drummer 2.2 release which includes a 32 bit and 64 bit installer. You can to install bothversions providing your hosts can handle them. I couldn't find any news about it just that they were in my downloads area and I've now read the readme file in the SD2_2.zip There are also several MIDI updates for various SD2 SDK's but that has nothing to do with 64 bit.

There's a full 32 and 64 bit install for Toontrack Solo as well. not a beta. Nothing to do with 64 bit but in the readme files that accompany the new updates they acknowledge the valuable contribution of the beta testers by name including our very own Dave Modisette. Such a good philosophy in conducting beta testing; rather than the anonymity that some developers force their beta testers to adhere to.

I did unzip and install it - but I must have missed the word beta. It just looked exactly like the SD2.2 installer setup that I installed just before it that I didn't notice. I did a run of about 7 or so toonrack updates from sd2.2 to a bunch of MIDI packs and content updates. I must go back and take another look. I think the word is pedantic not stickler.
