Hey!

I've got good news for us True Pianos lovers. I got an email response from George @ 4Front and he confirmed that they are releasing a 64 bit build of True Pianos before the next Summer!!! This means that Sonar 9 will have yet another 64 bit synth added to the list, yessss! If things keep going this way then we might actually get a full 64 bit Sonar 9!

By the way Edath, could you please also confirm that the LP64-EQ and LP64-Multiband remain as I have detailed in my first post (under synth/plugins that remain 32 bit)?

What about the new plugs like Beatscape, the Tube Leveler and the Transient Shaper? Are they native 64? I'm assuming GR3 is also 32 bit right?

Thanks so much man!

What about a back to 12 bits campaign Jose

I used to love my S950 and the TR 808 sounds !!!

The good old dayz with my 4 track !! (and my atary ST of course !!)

Just jokin , good to see things moving !!

I think i will do the jump with windows 7 or before on a desktop (cause vista really kills latency on laptops even with tweaks !!)

ok...

64fx plugs...

Sonitus suite, Pantheon and LE version, Channel tools, Boost 11_64, Lp64 EQ, LP_64 Multiband..

TL64 Tubeleveler and TS64 transicent shaper are all 64bit too .... Cakewalk are way ahead of most of the competition on the 64bit front - well done guys!

Defnitley a selling point..

I do hope they fix the midi automation on real time bounces in Sonar 8 tho...(complete necessity with PLAY 64 bit and 32bit libraries) it seems to stop some 64bit users from choosing Sonar as their prefered 64bit platform.

The bitmeter in S8 is 32bit tho I hadly ever use it..

Zo,

I remember my first 4-track recorder too (which I then traded for an 8 track). It wasn't too long ago either but I did enjoy it.

Yeah, I know what you mean about Vista. I'm not getting as much as I could with it but hopefully Windows 7 will change that. Only time will tell.

Thanks once again Edath.

I apologize for bothering you so much but, what do you mean by LE version?

Also, Beatscape, is it 64 bit?

Freddie, Eratu:

Thanks so much for the support. It would be great to have more people participate in this, that's for sure.

So far, going from a few of the email responses I've recieved, it looks like developing in 64 bit is not some of the plugin companies' priority (not surprising). But we need to let them know that this is what we, the customers, are demanding right now. Only then will they consider it a priority. I for one have and am not buying a single plugin that's not 64 bit capable. I want to have a full 64 bit system. It's time dang it .

Take care all!

Sorry I meant Pantheon LE.
Beatscape is 32bit.

Just wondering ... generally what free vst would people consider buying if they made a 64bit version?

mine would be
i) Madjen "Chimera" by Majken
ii) "Ambience" by Smartelectronix
iii) "Triangle II" rgcaudio

Keeping things on topic.... I think that bumping will eventually annoy forum users and Cake staff!

I would like to know if Cakewalk intend on changin gone aspect of bitbridge for 64bit users.. allowing 32bit vst to output midi.. (is it possible?)

This would work great with EZ PLayer for percussion midis library handling/auditioning..

I also have a theory in order to get Symphonic choirs wordbuilder to work which again revolves around the vst plugin located in the wordbuilder folder..

So are you guys getting any reponses form plugin companies, or am I the only one?

I would also like to hear Cakewalk's thought on this. Will they deliver? Seth I know you're there .

Yeah, that's basically the kind of answers I've been getting too (except for the good news from 4Front and Voxengo). I'm more concerned about what Cakewalk will do though since we haven't heard anything from them yet. The good news is that it is VERY possible for them to accomplish this since all plugins, with the exception of Vintage Channel VC-64, that remain 32 bit are Cakewalk/Roland owned. So I'm hopeful .

Peace!

these guys are really... really stubborn
ORIGINAL: SONNOX Support

If you have Vista 64, you can run our plug-ins, but only if the application is running in 32 bit mode. We have tested using Sonar in this way and found no problems. Just remember to install 64 bit iLok drivers!

We are currently looking at a schedule to convert all our VST plug-ins to VST 3, which supports 64 bit. We are committed to the VST 3 format, but at this time I am unable to confirm a time scale for this development phase.

As soon as we know more information, we will post it in the Support News section on our website.

Many thanks for your enquiry, and for your kind comments regarding the Oxford Limiter and Inflator.

while there's no even a release date, they gonna use the VST3 format which is unsupported by Sonar (isn't it?). So unless another couple of customers attacks their support I believe we can forget about Sonnox in 64 bit world...

Correct. VST3 isn't supported in Sonar 8 or earlier.

Do you have to be VST3 in order to be a 64bit VST?

Aren't Rapture and Dimension Pro 64 bit VST's too? At least that's what I thought.

That's what I'm thinking. Noel implied that there's not really much you can do in VST3 that you can't already do in VST2... they've just "fixed" the workarounds to make it so, and developed a "proper" API for those functions. Consequently, this is probably one of the main reasons people are going slow in moving to VST3, right? I mean, you have a plugin "working," and with VST3 in order for you to make it still work, you've got to go recode a bunch of your stuff, that's already working now with VST2.

Happens all the time, actually. My company stuck with an older version of a popular web application server... one of the reasons we were reluctant to move to the new version was because we'd already "fixed" a bunch of things we needed, but the new version fixed it too, so we'd have to remove all our custom code and move to the new and improved, but "proper," code.

Anyway, I digress. I don't want to hijack and kill a good thread.

Long live 64bit!!!
(at some point, I'll put it back on my system)
