RE: The most famous person you've met? 2009/05/14 09:05:35 (permalink)
here are a few.

Back in the 80's my band blew out Kid Rocks band in a battle of the bands in Detroit. (before he was big)
Hung out with Derek Trucks after a show in Royal Oak MI
Met Ted Nugent at taped show at Channel 56 in Detroit.
Hung out with Govt Mule (God Bless ya Woody), after a show at Siskos.
Delivered Breakfast to Johnny Winter, and Joan Jett on another occasion in their hotel Rooms.
Met Jimmy Page in a Elevator but didn't realize it was him until after, dang he is short.
I always thought he was bigger than life.

We supported Chas 'n' Dave once at a posh civic do in Loughborough.

They were completely blathered and got booed off after four songs.

We went back on and finished the night, had a storming time and picked up their pay cheque into the bargain.

Does that count?

Oh, and I once chatted to Phil Oakey for about an hour and a half, without realising who he was, when he came down from Sheffield with a mate of his who was buying one of my synths. I picked up the local newspaper that evening and there was a picture of him advertising his appearance with Human League at a local venue.

In the 90s, I used to be in the top 5 in my sector's securities analysts. First class travel. Limos. Concorde. Expensive hotels. Old wine. On TV. Obscene pay. Though there were not groupies. I met a bunch of famous business leaders. Sadly or Gladly, that life is long gone. I make about 10-20% of what I was making back then, but I don't travel 200k miles a year.

Musically - hmm. Played with Eric Johnson before he got famous, and then disappeared. Hung out drinking with the Drifters and the Box Tops, but both of them were way beyond their primes.

I'm quite surprised that there are not many more posts here.

I mean I've met thousands and thousands of people, statiscally roughly 32,472 of those would be Sonar users, of which, again roughly 896.3 would be readers here, therefore I'm surprised that so few (indeed if any) have mentioned they had the privilidge of meeting me once.

How about want to meet. I've met a bunch of "famous" people. That's kind of boring. But want to meet:

1) Maureen McCormick (Marcia Brady)
2) Barry Williams (Greg Brady)
3) Quincy Jones
4) Wayne Shorter

Don't want to meet:

1) Donny Osmond
2) Marie Osmond

I met Barbera Bush the summer of 2001, assigned as her personal assistant while she was in Toronto for a convention.
She was a really sweet lady, even though every time I saw her I thought of Phil Hartman's SNL impersonation. She gave me a small rug as a thank-you gift. Ironically, it was made in Afghanistan!!!

Smile Strummy, it's a new day (and the week end)!

I'm off work today and will be recording in 3 hours.

6 songs, 2 singers (one plays guitar) and SONAR.

I'll be thinking of you guys.

That surprises me. From your avatar, I figured you were secretly Tony Blair just looking very relaxed in your Post-PM role...
