I met Chris Kamara, the panelist on Sky Sports News, at Gatwick airport.
And I met Gok Wan on Oxford Street.
Jaimie Redknapp and his wife Louise, Wayne Bridge and John Terry. I did some work on the Bridge's house and Terry came round to see who had the biggest cinema room!
If you live outside the UK you probably won't have a clue who any of those are, and think they don't count. But they do!

My dad has met most of the less famous stars from the Rockin' 80's like Saxon, Giant, Danger Danger, Firehouse, Freaks of Nature, Motorhead. And in Lemmy's case they were good(ish) friends. I was too young at the time and never met him.

I'm afraid I've never talked to anyone famous, although I actually got to go to a concert once! LOL

But we lived right next door to Les Paul's former house in Wisconsin for 3 years. It's not a museum or anything, but there are certain things the owners can and can't do to the place because of it. (move walls, etc.)

So can I join the club now?

Yes, THE Les Paul. There's a highway named after him up there too.

I had to ask who he was!

But don't start throwing things at me now...I know other things.

One or two at least!

Timothy Leary, I kinda freaked him out though. It was after a lecture in Ashland, OR in '91 or '92. He had just finished the lecture and was sitting on a sofa in the hallway with a few people standing around. Don't know why I did it, but I walked right up and sat down next to him. I was student teaching high school history that year so he suggested a lesson plan idea :) He suggested I have the kids produce video biographies of historical figures, which I did. Kids liked it better than lecture/bookwork, so it worked out pretty well. He autographed his biography "Flashbacks" for me.

Most famous: I met Bill Clinton when he was Governor of Arkansas. That's pretty much it as far as truly famous people. Moderately famous: I've met numerous Christian Artists: The members of Mercy Me, The Afters, Brandon Heath, Bryan Duncan, Bob Carslisle, George Huff, Darrell Evans, Toby Mac, Russ Taff. Lots of well known preachers too.

I met Donald Duck when I went to Disney World with my family.

And Frank Gambale, too.

But not on the same day.

Actually, none of that is true.

Except the Gambale part.

Or is it?

No, you were very Frank here too so more than the Gambale part was true at least. (unless the Gambale part wasn't)

I actually have a funny feeling that DisneyWorld Donald's are not the actual famous film-star so I reckon you were misled there that's all.

This is why I like 'Legoland' at least you know all the characters there are the real deal.

Come to think of it, Donald was quite a bit taller than I imagined him. Most real ducks aren't more than a foot or so tall at the top of the head. Do you think I could have met an imposter?

So you have met actual Legos?

I love those guys, what you see is what you get, you know where you are with 'em.

You gotta respect 'em though else they let you know in no uncertain terms if they sense you trying to walk all over 'em.

Ike Turner gave me the once over at the Fish House in San Marcos a few years ago. We turned to each other at the same time and both were like, "duuuuude.... was that IKE?" And, yeah. It was. Had to google him for a recent picture to make sure. He smelled good.

We'd known that he lived in San Marcos for years and had joked about making a documentary called something like "Have you seen Ike?" in which we interview locals 'n stuff. Never happened and now it's too late. Always wanted to ask him if he needed someone to jam with - no strings attached (meaning my husband the really good guitar player, not me). sigh.

I once talked to a forum member on the phone.
(S)He told me to "go to h&!!".

I told him/her that I already go to the Coffee House daily.

I've had some close encounters of the absurd kind with a few famous folks but can safely mention this one in 1978 at Northwestern University my 2 friends and I sneaking under the (garage-type) door to the music hall where Springstein and the E street band were doing their soundcheck. We walked down to him at the sound board and just watched them set levels....he was not happy, he giggled in his jersey accent sayin' get outta hea. and threw his cap at us then signalled to have us removed. The thing I remember about the whole thing is how short the guy is. He was about 3 feet tall (so it seemed )....quite a shock.

I remember having a similar shock on seeing Roger Daltrey...

I guess these guys have to be small to fit on TV.
