I also wonder if Dave may have a badly calibrated monitor. I'm simply not seeing what Dave seems to see. The meter numbers are for me much easier to see in Tungsten then they were in Mercury. If you look at the screen shot I did of it here I think you will see how I see it. http://forum.cakewalk.com...in-Sonar-m3420096.aspx

I myself have not run the CCC to update yet . Nor have I seen a screen shot of the new colors . Orange and Black is the traditional well loved classic color combo If you happen to ride a Harley edit , just saw the new eZine screen shot ...the color combo looks like a Rat Bike done in black primer w an touch of orange ... The OP makes no sense as the themes are customizable to a degree (you're not locked in to one color), and very soon they will be even more customizable.

What I'm seeing here: A lot of people like the theme. Some people don't. Some people hate it. It's all opinion, nothing to do with "facts." I'm personally not a huge fan of orange in themes, although overall I much prefer this to the original theme and it's become my new default. Should I say anyone who likes the orange colours are factually wrong? No. It's *my* preference. End. The other thing I'm seeing here: From this update on: We have a new theme to play with. From what's been said around the place, it's one of many coming, there'll eventually be a theme editor for us all to make our own themes and make up as many reasons as to what we think is a good GUI or not as we like, and even with this first theme it's simply just a start. It'd be a hell of a process going through and setting up such a well established program like SONAR to swap out UI elements on the fly. Also in this update is the ability to go back to the original theme and pretend this never happened, and just enjoy all of the other bug fixes and enhancements that we're getting far more regularly than we ever did in the history of the product. Prior to this update: We had the original theme with no option for anyone who may prefer it to be different, and no start on giving us the tools to change it at all. I can't see how this is a stamp your foot and be angry thing. We're now GAINING something great that if it doesn't work for you, you can entirely ignore it, despite a lot of people are genuinely finding it useful (whether anyone might think they're insane or not). It's like getting a free room tacked onto your house that you don't ever need to go into and use if you don't want, or if you hate the colour scheme. Me? I prefer to know I have the option of having the extra space available, and knowing that down the track, I can paint this room whatever colour I like. It's all win.

Having been working away from home for a month or two, I'm delighted to arrive home and find the latest Platinum updates, Melodyne 4 (now upgraded to the Editor version) and the new UI theme which looks great on my system. The Tungsten colour scheme is a natural choice for the first theme as it matches both the Command Centre UI and the Cakewalk logo, and is very easy on the eyes. Nice work :-)

well i rechecked after updating the early release to the the final version and the meters/digits look fine, i can't see a problem, very see able even with my not so good eyesight. i couldn't in all honesty say i can see anything as good as i want to see it, but that is called getting old

sonarman1 Everyone has different views. Its okay if you dont like it. I am sure there will be someone else too sharing your view. But this thread looks like a troll thread is't it. When everyone's happy abt something you can just start a thread naming it as UGLY :D that will cause lot of fuzz. There are 2-3 dedicated threads already were people are extensively discussing about the new UI. You could have just posted your comment there. That would have been right.

Dave000 once again, I'm not complaining... I'm just saying that... so far SPlat, it looks like crap! and what the Bakers have done to fix it has done nothing to fix it... and they would have not tried to fix it if they thought it was good in the first place... As I said, they need an artist who can put out a theme a day and stop paying a programmer for a half a theme a season...
but you are complaining. see there is a way to voice your opinion without insulting cakewalks programmers and developers. this is a great forum we have here, people jump at the chance to help others. and the time frame is faster then any other site i have ever been a part of. your not waiting days for someone to answer a post about a problem you may have. but when you present your opinions in such negative fashions, it is complaining. theres a way to do it with grace. like i said, i love this new them and i think by reading the reply's from this thread, not 1 person agrees with your view on thinking this theme is a waste. be happy, make good music and good luck

Instead of arguing for a whole thread, why not explain to people how to change the colors and save the new look of their custom themes? Colors can still be changed I would imagine! This back and forth doesn't get us anywhere close to getting answers on how to customize the theme!! We learn much more here trying to help rather than using the space to vent anger over an issue that may well be corrected by just adjusting some colors for your personal look. I'm glad to see that more themes will be coming down the pike for us.

Well it's more then one system so... but I guess I can say that as a pro 2d/3d ARTIST as well as selling hundreds of painting within the US that one summer just for fun, I know what I like and yea, taste or lack of can sets a theme... Some have taste... utility is utility and the old theme and the new theme are the same to me... I set my theme back to the old one, meters are no better, so I changed them as I have always done with older Sonar ver. as well... Just can't change many things that I could un the past... Bakers, just give me ONE theme that I can see everything on out of the oven... that's all I ask! I set this post to say how I feel about the skin (UI) and I really don't care what others think... just a mild diversion to my life... ;) HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND folks! Remember the troops!

Dave000, why are so certain that the programmers created the theme? Noel mentioned Cakewalk's graphic designers in another thread, so they do have artists available. As a software developer myself, I'd be surprised if Cakewalk had a developer or two create this theme. I have no problem with you not liking the theme (there's a few things about it I'd change, and will when Cakewalk supplies the needed tools). But you're bashing the developers without knowing anything about what they actually did is not cool.

Having freedom of speech does not give you carte blanche to say exactly what you want to who you want. Well, you can try but don't be surprised if people react accordingly.

Dave000 BTW... people not in the software field don't realize that most programmers don't believe that they need artists... FACT!
All I can say is your initial statement of programmers making up the UI is incorrect. This was done by a graphic artist that's been very active in our space. What developers do spend time on is integrating and building features as well as revising existing features to improve them. My group lives in the IDE working with C++ days/nights, not in Photoshop. Orange and black... Halloween!? and nothing else looks right together... lol Maybe you should start over with a basic UI in black, white and levels for grey as the default then the user can chose a base color/s to fill in the greys. Cakewalk, you want the best!? it needs to look the best and the person you have messing it up now cannot get it done! YOU NEED an ARTIST!

I'll admit, that is very hard to see. I'm using the segmented meters which are clear and easy to see. I'm not sure that's how the solid meters are supposed to look. Someone using solid meters will have to comment. There's been some color issues with menus for some people. Maybe this is related.
