Tungsten is the best theme I've seen yet. No problem with meters (or anything else for that matter) here.

Win 10 x 64; CbB; SPlat; MixCraft 8 Pro; AMD FX4130, 3.8 GHz; DDR3 32 GB Ram; Focusrite Scarlett 18i20; SSD 1TB, 2 x 1TB and 1 x 640 GB HDD; Mackie HR624 Monitors, KRK G2 Rockit 5's, Dual HP S2331 23" Monitors

In France we say "Les gouts et les couleurs ne se discutent pas". Translation:" Tastes and colors shouldn't be debated".. Food for thought..
Maybe that should be in the TOS along with politics and religion.

Its amazing to a "colour agnostic" like me the passion generated. I will use whatever as long as its not too garish.

+1 For this Glyn. Beyond utility I don't give the colors much thought.
I can't remember the last time I heard a great song and thought 'wow - I wonder what colour the production tools were.'

Wow.
I visit once a month to see if there is pertinent info about the latest update.
Maybe if Steve would have made his posts about colored pricks he wouldn't have been banned.
( and if you don't find humor in that ...I'm just glad as hell I don't know you and your best off hangin with that French dude that thinks you should keep your trap shut. Send this to the Gibson dude-o-censor for all I care.)
It is cool to see that "color" is the biggest issue with my favorite audio program. I don't spend time at the Vegas forum...I wonder if they flood their forum with audio issues with the video software. LOL

l couldn't help but think of William Munny ask, "who owns this ..." and then realized that it's probably a very good thing that stuff like this keeps folks "busy" with something.

LOL...just posted and noticed it had I posted 32 minutes ago...I can see there is a timing problem with the audio program forum...LOL ...where's that automatic problem reporter when ya need it?

I really like the theme, but then orange and black are two of my favourite colours (if only we could get a seafoam / aqua in there somewhere haha).

once again, I'm not complaining... I'm just saying that... so far SPlat, it looks like crap! and what the Bakers have done to fix it has done nothing to fix it... and they would have not tried to fix it if they thought it was good in the first place...

As I said, they need an artist who can put out a theme a day and stop paying a programmer for a half a theme a season...

Are you an artist, looking for work?  I'm sure we all hear you and get your point... you think it looks like crap.   But it seems that you are on an island, as most of the comments here, disagree with your assessment. I'm sure most here respect your opinion.  Please respect ours.

Music, as seen, through the eyes of Larry Bynum aka Quest For Success (QFS).

I am just grateful to be able to easily see to different states of buttons and such.  It was previously hard to see if an effect was on or off -- not so now.  Count me as happy with the change.

I like the look and operation of the New UI, I like the darker appearance easy on the eyes, late night recording.
Coming from ProTools where it's mostly "white" look (in general), it's nice to see. I look at this as Just the beginning, I'm sure there will be more. I do like the fact that when you enable/disable a VST, it goes to "gray" as off,

Really? Maybe the bakers should consider getting an artist who understands pallets! It's apparent to me that a programmer is trying to get SpLat to look good...  Yea! That's NOT going to work! Orange and black... Halloween!?
and nothing else looks right together... lol
Maybe you should start over with a basic UI in black, white and levels for grey as the default then the user can chose a base color/s to fill in the greys. Cakewalk, you want the best!? it needs to look the best and the person you have messing it up now cannot get it done! YOU NEED an ARTIST!

I really like Tungsten, but what would be really cool would be Tungsten with the "robin-egg blue" buttons from Mercury (I'm not a big "orange-gold" person most of the year).

They can call it "Merc-sten".  ("Tung-cury"?)

Or maybe an even deeper blue on the buttons?

Like: this color, both bright and deep. This would be hyper-cool for me.

Totally that robin egg blue was so good on Tools module, snap module etc etc. That would be the first thing I would like to change. Then the record buttons. They look kind of shabby. Also I liked those plugin boxes in mercury. They had some 3d touch (I guess) and not totally rectanguar like the tungsten ones.

Later update: Oops I posted this only as a reply looking at your post, without realising its this thread I am in.

I had a ten hour session yesterday and found looking at Tungsten very easy and my eyes didn't tire at all, one break all day. It's easy on the eyes and better for longer sessions. Mission accomplished I'd say.

I have to agree - two 12 hour sessions and not once did I squint and wonder if the fx in the track bin were active:) Switched back to the old colour scheme as an experiment at the start of day three - for about a minute! Apart from the fx bin I had no problem with the old colours, but I certainly don't miss them now. Nice job Cakewalk!

It would help the OP if he would read the ezeine. It explains the thinking behind tungsten and why certain changes were made. One can go back to the old look and feel by changing to Mercury if one is unhappy with tungsten.

Best

Actually Dave, when you put up a post you are talking to us 'pathetic' 'codependant' forum folk you seem to so completely despise.  This is a user forum. If you want to offend Cakewalk directly with your rants you should book a support call.

Umm... this is a public user forum, not a direct line to Cakewalk, even though several employees maintain a presence here. So while you may *think* you're talking to Cakewalk, you're not. You are in fact very much talking to us, the 'peanut gallery' as you put it - in a format and venue explicitly designed for public debate and conversation. What's more, you know this... so what's really entertaining is pretending that you're not looking for attention with a post that seems blatantly designed to provoke.

Back in MY day, the 60's, the term was "tater tots" since the tots were made from all the shavings left on the floor.

Win 10 Pro x64, 32Gb DDR3 ram, Sonar Platinum, Cubase 9.5, Mackie MCU Pro, Cakewalk VS 100, Roland Octa-Capture,  A 800 Pro, Carver M-1.5t amp & C4000 pre amp, various mics, drums and brass instruments.

And away we go!
