Lynn The list of fixes is getting better by the day. Let's hope that it's not over, yet. Agreed. In the past I have seen patches fall short and then bugs tend to persist once they get too busy with the next development cycle. I hope they can push through a ton more stuff before then, but its certainly looking like it could be substantial so far.

cornieleous Brandon Ryan [Cakewalk ] threads merged Indeed, thanks. My fault for not searching thoroughly. I like my thread title better :P No worries at all and yup your thread title was good. For whatever reason when I merge it takes the oldest title and doesn't give me control. This forum is so active that merging once in awhile keeps stuff from flying off page 1. But an active forum is a good thing.

Any chance of getting the track layer weirdness that's been around for a while fixed? Record a bunch of takes in layers, solo one, delete the rest. Now rebuild layers. Deleted layers come back. Solo goes away. Lots of other weirdness too when deleting/rebuilding/muting/soloing.

SilkTone To me it is promising that they list the MIDI crosstalk bug as one of the fixes (only a few years late). My only concern is that this is much more than just an issue when recording from multiple inputs, but I'm hoping they either just didn't have a detailed enough description for the bug, or that the person that wrote up the list wasn't aware of how many areas this bug affects. Fingers crossed... I've just noticed that the wording that originally mentioned the "MIDI crosstalk bug" has now been changed. This makes me think you may be disappointed. As you say though, "Fingers crossed"!

Fingers crossed... I've just noticed that the wording that originally mentioned the "MIDI crosstalk bug" has now been changed. This makes me think you may be disappointed. As you say though, "Fingers crossed"! I received an email from a CW employee on Friday that details the fixes that are related to the crosstalk bug. It looks like they have fixed the crosstalk between unrelated tracks when recording from multiple inputs, fixed the crosstalk when a VSTi sends MIDI notes out and those notes are recorded on an unrelated track, and various related symptoms that I believe are caused by the same issue. I suspect that the issue with Sonar crashing when two VSTis are sending MIDI events out at the same time (which I also believe is caused by the MIDI buffers being shared incorrectly) will be fixed since the root issue is being addressed. Keeping my fingers crossed since this issue has been driving me nuts for years (I officially filed a report more than two years ago but I ran into this issue a long time before that without really knowing that it was actually a bug in Sonar - too easy to blame it on a buggy VSTi). It has been preventing me from working in a way that should be fully supported by a DAW like Sonar. If all of these issues are being fixed as the lists are suggesting, then I think it would be a dramatic improvement in X1 and I believe CW can win back some/most of goodwill they lost due to the initial X1 release. I really looks as if they are now looking into many issues that they previously chose to ignore.

Wow ........ looking at the fix list for X1B, it is massive !!! For all practical purposes, this almost looks like a whole new Version, not just a patch fix. Either that -or- X1B will end up being the release X1 should have been in the first place. None of us know the corporate pressures and politics behind the scenes at Roland/Cakewalk, but this Fix List for X1B seems much more extensive than a simple patch fix. I now side with the folks who were saying Sonar X1 was apparently released before it was ready to meet some arbitrary corporate -or- sales strategy minded deadline. I feel the Cakewalk team will eventually get it all worked out (literally speaking they must to stay competitive in the tightening DAW market). This may be a very important period in time for determining the future path of Cakewalk and how they compete in the marketplace and release products in the future.

Wow ........ looking at the fix list for X1B, it is massive !!! X1 certainly has it's share of needed fixes, and it appears CW is making it happen. But this list isn't any longer than any other Sonar update list. As a reminder - below is a link to the 8.5.2 update list. The top is added features, and below that are the bug fixes. People tend to forget quickly or they were later at adopting and didn't notice the issues. http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/20091119

I tend to agree with Coda. Doesn't seem like such a long list to me and doesn't seem like "whole new version?" But we are all going to look at this thing differently. I've got lots of software that has way more fixes than this current list on a point release and just thought that was standard procedure. Surely the list isn't finished and I hope it keeps on growing, as I bet we all do. I just checked that list of fixes for 8.5.2. If the X1 list is 'massive' what do we call that list? And I wonder and I really don't remember was 8.5 and 8.5.1 a really bad release that deserved all those fixes listed in the 8.5.2 update?
