mattbroiler This may be a repeat of the same question but anyway - my platinum annual sub is paid through the end of this year. The August 31 deadline is the catch for me - will I be able to get in on this offer later in the year when it makes more sense to do so? I would rather wait until that is up for renewal than pay for the lifetime deal now since updates are already paid for through December. It would be paying a second time for what I already paid for (the next six months of releases) in order to not get caught out on the lifetime offer. I would appreciate Cakewalk's thoughts on this, thanks.
I can't guarantee that at all but you have some time to decide.

I'm a new user here on the Forum, but I'm a fan of Cakewalk since mid-1990. Is not good for a company that works with software DAW "stay restricted to a single platform. Certainly the computer world is mainly dominated by the PC in all areas. But when it comes to music production, there are many people who use MAC and the Cake also could look at iOS, put a music creator there would be a good idea. I used all the DAWs I could use in this life, today I have installed here Protools for me 12.5 has to work hard to win a Sonar 8.5 for example and also have Reaper (very good), Studio One (also very good), and definitely to me nothing beats the flexibility of Sonar and Cakewalk that support gives the user. Sonar is a very powerful tool, and entering this market of OSX which I think about investing, since my favorite DAW will also be there, it will be great for Cakewalk, but will have to work hard on Marketing and release this software for many major producers experience. The news update life certainly was the best news and shows that the Cakewalk worries with our requests. They have a lot of luck, sorry if you like but I think the protools a cancer.

We are updating that page now as they are getting updated by dealers. All all other dealers have product discontinued. Again, we are talking about the same thing. The page even talks about Membership and is clearly the old SKU. I've told you that much. That's all I can do.

Not yet. There are some logistical things we need to work out with them. More info to come soon.

- Mac version of Sonar? I have the fastest Mac you can currently buy... but my custom PC is faster. To be able to run Sonar on that Mac (the way I do on the PC), I'd need $2k in external Thunderbolt drives.
While I don't want to be a downer, that does leave me feeling a bit "Meh". Probably off topic, but... Presumably you're thinking of a big RAID array of some kind? For less demanding use the situation's a bit better. My DAW PC is faster than my fastest Mac as well, but the Mac manages very well with a single Intel SSD in a Thunderbolt enclosure that cost something like $100. Which is still overpriced, but prices are starting to fall. It would probably manage with a USB3 drive or two equally well, but MacBooks only have two USB sockets and the MIDI stuff occupies them. So for most people, certainly home users and small studios who already own a Mac the cost of additional hardware wouldn't seem to be too much of an obstacle.

Both but keep in mind we are in Alpha state. And the Alpha will be free to Mac customers for testing and feedback.
Would you please elaborate on this: What does "Both" mean? When I buy sPlat lifetime NOW, will I get a SECOND - completely different - license for Mac lifetime updates? Will I have TWO independent licenses, and I'll be able to use sPlat on both Win and Mac simultaneously? I don't get what "both" mean to my question... Sorry...

It means you can install on either one. Just like almost every other company does in our industry. But we are still in Alpha state for Mac.

I get you, nothing personal here...it's just business...and I maintain that it's not ok to advertise something, then rudely refuse to honor it and blame a loyal dealer for the mishap, especially when your own company is mostly (if not completely) at fault for the confusion and the misunderstanding. By the way, check GuitarCenter and SweetWater's pages below, they also both say "membership" in the description http://www.guitarcenter.com/Cakewalk/SONAR-Platinum-Upgrade-from-any-SONAR-Producer-Software-Download.gchttp://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SonarPltUpSP You guys need some serious help with Channel Management. I know it's early days Andrew, but.. I'll quite happily admit you've surprised me, I didn't expect Sonar to ever be released in an OS X version, and I'm extremely pleased you've decided to go down that road. A couple of questions though. Is the plan for an OS X Sonar to be able to use AU plugins? Secondly, pricing. I didn't pay membership for 2016 because the only PC we have is the DAW and it's been acting up badly. I also needed to learn Logic for a project and we already have Macs so I've mostly been using Logic over the last few months. At the moment I can purchase a discounted lifetime membership, until the end of August, yes? If I hold off until the OS X version is on the market might a reduced price deal for previous Sonar members/customers still be available?

Hi. 1.) I believe "SONAR4Life" applies to those who run Sonar on a PC, on Windows. Right? 2.) I own Sonar professional. According to the big announcement, my upgrade should be at USD 299.00 Checking in the shop (Where I find my purchases listed) I find the very same upgrade is available at EUR 342.00 How come with a daily exchange rate of 1 EUR = 1.1174 USD? Or is the price in the big announcement given without VAT? Please clarify. Thankx.

I've looked through this thread to try and answer my question, but I can't find it. When the Mac version goes for general release will my pre-existing subscription already give me access to that? Sonar is the last application keeping me on Windows for my DAW and I wanted to see if I could "hop" over without having to re-buy Sonar. Especially if I took the lifetime option... Also - I can't remember (this might be a little OT), but does the license allow me to have it installed on 2 machines?

I've been paying Cake for over 16 yrs. I never once felt I had wasted my money and I've upgraded with every offer. My Platinum membership was renewed last Jan. ( I've really enjoyed the membership program) and I thought the fee for the lifetime offer was $199.00 for me. There was no question about if it was worth it so I jumped...I was surprised... the fee was $99.00. I made the transaction, closed Sonar, ran Command Center and the update was there! Fast. I've been impressed by the folks at Cakewalk. They've been working hard with their skills and listening to users for years and IMO their efforts have resulted in an amazing program that just keeps getting better. My hats off and thanks to all the Bakers. It's been a fun trip and looking forward to seeing where you take it from here. Michael

Yes you can install it on even more than 2 machines as long as you are only using 1 at a time, and they are being used by you.

Photo_G Andrew, Noel had stated earlier that "There will be an option for X3 users to upgrade to Platinum and get onto the lifetime membership plan" here: http://forum.cakewalk.com/SONAR-201605-Update-now-available-m3423235-p3.aspx#3424527 Will this offer be different from the price to upgrade from 'any' Producer version for $199? Also, can you tell me the correct SKU to purchase to get in on this please? Thanks, G
The upgrade price for X3 Producer is $199. That includes lifetime update and everything we've added since X3 Producer. https://www.cakewalk.com/My-Account/Login?ReturnUrl=cart:172999
Hi Andrew, I would also like to upgrade from X3 Producer but I'm not getting a price of $199 (that would be £138 in sterling), I get £174 which comes out at $250. Just to clarify, £174 ($250) is the price I get following the link you provided above. Hope you can clarify. Thanks, Simon

First I will be doing the lifetime thing shortly for the $99 .. thats a given. Just a few Qs however, to clear things in my head. Compared to the yearly payments for SPLAT up until now and what we get for that at the moment - What qualifies as core and what does not? Is CORE actually every thing under the SONAR PLATINUM header in the CCC? All the sub items? Once switched to lifetime what will we not get that we are getting now before switching to lifetime? A comparison between LIFETIME vs Continue to pay the $99 or so a year. Any advantage to sticking with the yearly payment vs the lifetime for Core only? Will the monthly / yearly plan keep going? What reasons should anyone stick to the yearly payment vs the lifetime? I hope I am explaining this clearly :D

Anything that pertains to core functionality of the program would be included. I think over the past 18 months, the only things that may have not been included were VocalSync and Drum Replacer. VocalSync likely would have been included. We talked about making Drum Replacer separate as an ARA plugin prior to even Membership. Those questions have always come up in the past. Same with ProChannel modules. We've included many but also sold some separately. FWIW, in reading surveys and comments, the thing that customers have wanted more than anything is to focus on improve the core app and not wanting to have to pay for fixes we make in subsequent paid updates.

I would wonder ... when you get Sonar, you are allowed to have a copy installed on two boxes at once. You just can't use both at the same instance. I would wonder if you have a PC and Mac if you would be entitled to put the PC version on your PC and then the Mac version on your Mac as the two box option. If this was allowed, then it would seem you don't have to pay for a Mac version separately. I'm not sure how this will work. It might just be you are allowed only to have two copies of the PC version only. Then purchasing a Mac version would allow 4 copies at home ... two on PC's and two on Mac's.

For those asking why they don't get the $99 offer after paying monthly... It is because you only paid up to 1 month max in advance. On the other hand, if you paid a year's worth of membership in Jan, then you still have 6 months left. Hence the price difference. OK not sure if I'm opening a can of worms here... but my upgrade to lifetime was only $49. It could be because I paid the yearly membership only about 1.5 months ago, not in Jan.

There is no good reason to not take the lifetime updates. Much better value. I wouldn't go too much by the installer. You can see for yourself the current product roadmap on the rolling updates page. That's the direction we are rolling in right now.

Paul G I'm not a Mac guy and likely will never be but I do have a question. We all know that the pro audio 'Mac' crowd can be a little snooty. With the new Sonar4Mac coming out, will we be seeing that 'look down their noses' at us poor PC users here in Cakeland? I sure hope not.
well i use a mac now,but used a pc most of my music recording career, don't consider myself a mac or pc person, but a musician and sonar user.I don't and won't look down on you,and anyone who does is lame.
