Hello! For me: 1. Choose effects or effects chain by default when creating a new track or bus (For example Console 1 users it's awesome, on Reaper DAW it's perfect ...) 2. Monitoring section for monitoring effects, independent bus master, automatically deactivated during exports 3. Batch export. Select multiple projects, choose format or several formats, and launch the export 4. Region markers 5. Apply a track model to an already existing track Thanks

This is more like adding an old feature back in. There used to be a feature where you could select an audio clip in Sonar for editing in an external wav editor, like Sound Forge, Wavelab, etc. And that external app would open, you do your edits, and then when you save, the editor closed and Sonar would notify you the file had changed and ask if you wanted to save it-all edits now on the original audio clip in Sonar.
For some reason the feature was removed and it took a registry hack to use it.
I would also like to be able to add the ripple edit feature that came out as a patch after my subscription ended.
Thanks!

Cubase type chord track would be helpful, especially for guitar players who are not proficient on piano keyboard, any note you play on your midi keyboard will be in the chord you have chosen. This works in both midi and audio, this is also a helpful feature for songwriters.

Skyline_UK Can I just add a note of caution. I've just read through all the posts so far and whilst there are some good suggestions there are also some requested 'improvements' I don't agree with and don't want. So please don't assume everything listed here is unanimously wanted by ALL users. Can I suggest you will need a process to sift out the improvements that will meet with wide, if not universal, approval.
I don't see the point of this thread. There are 1350 threads in the Problem Reports forum and 1750 threads in the Feature Requests forum.

I really mean this as a positive comment as I've used (and loved!) Sonar on a daily basis before it went Tango Uniform. Check out Studio One 3 Pro and add all the features it has to Sonar (i.e. Project page, ability to put console channels in folders, etc.) You would have a clear winner. Walt

These have been mentioned, but I'll put in my votes, in case it matters: - I'd like a simple way to change the tempo on a multitrack project, including both MIDI and audio tracks, instead of the laborious process we currently have. Craig Anderton has assured us that the reward for jumping through all those hoops is a higher quality rendered project (at the new tempo) and fewer artifacts. I don't know if that was ever true, but I know that other professional-level DAWS seem to be able to do this.
- Chord tracks. Just guessing, but I think most of us are creating projects start to finish: writing, arranging, playing, singing, mixing, mastering and marketing. In other words, for most of us, the DAW is not just a recording device, like a tape machine, but a total production tool. So, chord tracks.
- MIDI routing. I don't know exactly how to say this, but I'd like an intuitive way to change which VSTi connects to a specific MIDI track, and also a simple way to have one MIDI track drive more than one VSTi. Being able to do this in SONAR is not the same as being able to do it quickly and easily.
That's all, and thanks for asking!

chilldanny 2. Simplify the Console View. Narrow/scalable channels/buses etc.
Do you know there's narrow strip option already? (right click, at the bottom) Yes I'm aware of this. Unfortunately even when narrowed, the strips still waste a ton of screen space (as does the Skylight interface in general). I'd like to see a return to the Sonar 8 Producer style console, but updated for 2018. Much more usable than the current iteration. YMMV of course.

Hi Meng, Thanks for asking. Here's my list: 1. MPE integration as it's part of the MIDI standard now. 2. A Project page similar to Studio One 3 including full CD mastering capabilities. 3. Allow color preferences for tracks and consoles to be used across all themes not just Mercury. 4. Driver Presets - see this link 5. Better third party controller integration (Roli and Komplete Kontrol MK2 keyboards). Cheers, jayson

I'd just like improved stability. Once I start applying plugins (eq, compression, sidechaining, etc.) to my projects, I start saving every 5 minutes or so to compensate for the crashing that increases as the project complexity increases. I'd love to rely on Sonar as a professional, stable tool.

I might have worded my request better. I will try to clarify my request... I am not intending to specifically recommend .cal files or anything else be removed... What I am trying to say is, there should not be features integrated into the DAW, which are not supported and go neglected for years... and are no longer relevant. They do sometimes cause problems, which can cause issues with other features of the program, or how the application interacts with other software... If a feature is worth having, it should be kept current with today's equipment and production techniques... I'm just saying...Nothing personal. Most of the .cal files and many of the instrument definitions were created by other Users. They didn't always work correctly...even when they were relevant. If you like using .cal, you will probably like this: https://1drv.ms/b/s!AoVXrS3ljopsgpVstElnBOzFloz7dw

Hmmm, is it just me or have those two forums just been vaporized? [Edit: These forums open up in a computer browser, but do not open up in the mobile app.]I do agree with the sentiment of this post since many of the posts in those forums had a lot of thought put into them, were reviewed and voted on, and are still applicable. Burying those forums degrades this thread into ”lip service” for me. Typing the same things over and over just wastes time; either they will happen or they won't... And some of those requests have years under their belts now.

Unless I am not understanding something those 2 forums still appear to be there, you might have to adjust the time period down the bottom of the page, once set to 'from the beginning' they show 27 and 35 pages respectively.

I've always wanted the PRV icon to open the view as I'd left it, or, as stated above, being able to select between multiple views [various tracks chosen]. This requires the view icons to be there in the first place, so I'd like the ability to fully customize toolbars returned. Thus, PRV tools and functions should be accessible by icons, also. [These seem basic, so if they've been addressed, I'm sorry. The X series has felt too cumbersome to spend much time with.] And please...get plugins already being used in a project to reopen with the patch names they'd been saved with.

If this has already been mentioned then I apologize, but - I'd like to see more controllers identified by name when setting up a controller in TDFKAS. For example, in the ACT MIDI Controller window there are a number of controllers listed in the Presets drop-down menu. But the controller I have (Alesis QX25) is missing. It would be nice to have additional choices to select. Okay, maybe I'm being a little nit-picky here, but it's what comes to mind. Thanks for listening, and thanks for continuing TDFKAS!

A little late to the "party" here (day job, rehearsals, etc...), but here are my quick thoughts on a top 5, or at least the ones I can remember at the moment. :) 1) Staff View enhancements. This has been my long-time biggest pet peeve with SONAR, and one of the key things that has made me consider switching horses over time. I'm not looking for print quality notation -- I have Finale for that. Rather, I'm looking for a workflow-friendly notation view for use in the arranging process. For context, most of my tracks -- really, everything other than vocals, are MIDI -- softsynths, to be specific. In a typical pop, rock, country, etc. arrangement, I play everything live and arrange while recording. I may use Staff view for some tweaks when I'm trying to suss out something weird going on (i.e. conflicts of some sort), but I mostly just play the parts. At times, however, I'll add, say, a string quartet or brass section, or maybe something even a bit more involved. In such cases, I will usually want to write parts in notation -- I'll play them later to get more feeling, but I need to visually see what I'm doing with multiple parts. The horizontal scrolling of multiple staffs that we already have is needed. What is needed, however, is much more friendly note entry, including changing note values, positioning notes intuitively (i.e. not having, say, eighth notes come out on 32nd note boundaries when my mouse is where I think it should be to be on an eighth note or quarter note boundary), probably being able to input rests as placeholders (and helps on the positioning front), ability to input triplets in a friendly manner, etc. 2) Better behavior (no audible artifacts) in playing certain software instruments, especially Arturia VST3 instruments and the UJam Virtual Guitarist products, but also AAS instruments and others. These seem to get a lot of audio artifacts when playing them in SONAR prior to freezing (they freeze/render just fine -- it is just a matter of playback). This isn't a scenario of an underpowered system, and I don't have the same problem in Cubase 9.5 or Studio One 3.5. 3) "Cleaner" screen management when using a single screen (which I do all the time). What I'm talking about here is the ability to quickly/easily switch what I'm viewing as suits the task without having to define screen sets, bring up dialog boxes (i.e. the Track Manager), etc. This is not only about tracks, but also buses. I find myself frequently having to maximize one thing or the other to get enough of what i need to see on the screen, and the bus pane is usually kept low (or hidden) to give room for more tracks, but then it's hard to get a bus large enough "in the moment" when wanting to make a quick adjustment, and there is a lot of juggling of bus visibility. Cubase has something similar to the SONAR track manager in their equivalent of the Inspector, where it can be always visible, or switched to as a tab (like we switch between Pro Channel, Track properties, and Clip properties). No dialog boxes required. I've found this quite efficient, especially with tracks and buses keeping in the same areas -- i.e. no separate track pane and bus pane. 4) Better VST/VSTi performance. It does seem like I can get more going at lower latency settings in Cubase 9.5 than in SONAR before getting any artifacts in the sound. I think the same may be true of Studio One 3.5, but I haven't used that quite as much (haven't actually finished a song on that one yet). (And, just for whatever it's worth, Studio One really doesn't meet my general needs very well at this time, so I'm not likely to make that my main DAW. I'm not sure about Cubase at this point. My long history with SONAR would make me prefer SONAR's successor, all other things being equal.) 5) A solution for a relatively new SONAR issue I've been experiencing where starting up a project that changes sample rate from what has been set on my audio interface (MOTU 828x if that is relevant) seems to get into a tough-to-interrupt loop where you get the brief burst of white noise that usually happens when SONAR (or another DAW) changes the sample rate then gets an hour glass for a long time, eventually has a really tiny break where queued up mouse movements/keystrokes happen, then repeats the cycle. This didn't use to happen in SONAR. It used to change the sample rate to match the project cleanly, only sometimes needing a bus to be reassigned (and the brief white noise burst), but no endless loop thing. Maybe this came with a Windows 10 update??? I think it is newer than the most recent SONAR update. It is *very* frustrating, though, and I'm not seeing it in Cubase or Samplitude. (Studio One has other issues with loading a project at a different sample rate.) I should probably mention that, when the Gibson announcement about Cakewalk happened last year, I decided to take advantage of some of the crossgrade deals to educate myself on some of the other DAWs (I eliminated Digital Performer, but picked up Cubase, Studio One, and Samplitude). I've mostly been a happy SONAR user, aside from the long-term Staff View issues and more recent issues with VST3 plugins. There are, especially, many things I like about SONAR's UI (the ability to categorize plugins as flexibly as we can do now is particularly useful). But I also decided to try alternating between DAWs when doing different projects, both to educate myself more on what is out there, and to consider what my primary DAW should be in the longer term. (My blog on this is at http://rickpaulmusic.com/thoughts-on-the-demise-of-cakewalk/.) I am, of course, hoping SONAR's successor under BandLab will come out on top, but I am keeping an open mind on this at the moment.

Thanks, Meng, 1) Bug - Bus solo function do not work when I use "external insert"I use External Insert on every mix session to use my outboard gearsI asked Cakewalk team several times before and they may know about this issue. 2) Feature - Section Editing Tool - like as "Arranger Track and Scratch Pads" of Presonus https://youtu.be/ZALHeAeOjM4but Presonus' looks tough. have not detail. when we arrange songs, we do copy and paste sections(Verse, Prechorus, Chorus, Hooks....) for every work. we need to select each clip in section and It needs exquisite Ctrl + Mouse skill and we waste much time on this work. If we can group elements which we would like to contain a specific section and move, copy, paste each section freely, It will be a revolutionary arrange tool. :)

Hmmm, is it just me or have those two forums just been vaporized?
Unless I am not understanding something those 2 forums still appear to be there, you might have to adjust the time period down the bottom of the page, once set to 'from the beginning' they show 27 and 35 pages respectively.
This is only applicable in the mobile version of those forums (they only load an error page). The full version of the web pages load fine.

Paul P I don't see the point of this thread.
In the threads you provided a single poster can post numerous times which means it might not be the most important necessary or useful feature requests and could be very user specific, as opposed to the variety of submissions here from all sorts of users. Also others with good ideas might not have bothered writing theirs before because they might've thought no-one was listening, but now there's a real opportunity they might write them in now. So here you get a massive variety of posters and very different feature requests and they're priority requests (your top 5). Of course there are probably things in those threads Bandlab could take a look at, I'm just defending Meng because I can't stand all the troll-y comments I've been seeing in the forum. He's asking us, the users, for feedback and he's listening and still there are some that want to complain.
