With all the bad vibes going on here, people drawing lines on pro X1 or opposed this sort of thing with Ben doing the buttons and Panup doing themes for their fellow X1 users shows the deep quality that this forum has. People have routinely helped one another through the years here but this sort of help is unprecedented.

Both Ben and Panup have not complained but simply done what they could to make this transition easier for us all. I don't know where this sort of thing has ever been done before for such great reasons.

This forum needs to take a hard look at itself for not giving these guys the praise they deserve.

The work, the effect and the attention they have given here using their skills for our benefit is way beyond the call of duty any of us has ever done.

Edit to add this. Its the spirit they show that is so profound for the forum. They have lifted us all up a bit with the can do attitude they show. Not even the most cynical of us can say a word in opposition to this spirit they promote with every post.

All I can say is a simple thank you.

Jeebus these things are gorgeous!

I don't see how anyone at Cake can look at these and not realize that color customizations need to be returned.

Hahaha, I don't know what to say either other than a HUGE thank you panup, and I'm glad I brought this up since it seems quite a few were looking for a darker console view. This is incredible...wow!

Just a question if I may? Will there be a chance to make the pro channel in a darker color instead of the blue for this theme? If so, that would totally rule...but if not, that's ok too. Just wow....you totally blew me away with this, panup. Thank you so much for going through the pains of hell to do this. I thought maybe these things were fairly quick and easy for you to do....I had no idea it would take you all those hours. I'm sorry if me asking about this brought any inconvenience to you as happy as I am to see this.

John: Excellent last post brother....I totally agree. As you know, I've always been one to praise this forum even though we have some tough stuff going on at times.

panup & Ben: if you guys ever need any audio work or mastering, consultations, guitar tracks, or anything I can ever do for you guys, I'll hook you up free of charge. I know you have your own killer studio, panup and you probably wouldn't need anything, but in the event you need an extra set of ears or anything from me, consider it done. You guys are really incredible and I too thank you for all you've done here. If I can return the favor in any way (I've been meaning to make a donation and definitely will, I promise) I'll do whatever I can for you guys.

I was always against program mods for "various" reasons but I must say, this is incredible and the hard work and professionalism you put into this is beyond belief. I downloaded and installed Reindeer and I must say, my eyes THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! What a HUGE difference this makes. I look forward to the darker mod coming up. You guys are amazing and a blessing to the Cakewalk community. I can finally stand to look at X1 now and I find myself taking shorter breaks :) Thanks so much guys. Expect a donation soon.

It's not what we're doing, it's how you do it :)

I made all 40 Console View background images from scratch as layered images. 6 hours non-stop work after recording 8 hours... Insane but fun enough!

Dark Side of Sonar will be available in 1-2 days.

Mate, this looks brilliant. Awesome job.

Any chance you could fix the rest of the issues with X1? Seems more likely than relying on Cakewalk at times. -___-

panup, is there a way to add transparency effect to your mods similar to Aero in Vista?  If not, I would like to see one that is light gray in color with the Prochannel being a different color than the blue that we see a lot.  I do like the last two that you worked on - are you an artist?

Hello everybody!
Few questions were asked:

syntheticpop
Q: panup, is there a way to add transparency effect to your mods similar to Aero in Vista?  If not, I would like to see one that is light gray in color with the Prochannel being a different color than the blue that we see a lot.

I'm not sure about transparency but light grey ProChannel an easy task.

Q: I do like the last two that you worked on - are you an artist?

I can make songs and play guitar but I can't draw. I compensate lack of talent by decisiveness.

ronkenobi
Q: is it possible to fill the grey color at the top with the same color like the channels?

Yes but I must first find those bitmaps. I have searched them many times during last days. 1400 files in two folders = it's not an easy task. If I remember right I was able to change those colors in Orfeus or Evolution Theory already but I did not mark down bitmap ID numbers...

Danny:
Q: Will there be a chance to make the pro channel in a darker color instead of the blue for this theme?

Yes, this should be possilbe. And when Sonar Skin Editor is available you can tweak colors as you wish. This mod is most probably included in Ben's (upcming) Skin Editor.
There's one thing that slow down my ProChannel customization: I did not create background images as layered images. Thus making radical changes is not piece of cake. However, darkening and color saturation change are quick tasks.

John:
Q: I have have to wait 2 full days?

I should edit a few pushbutton background colors, edit AUX section, design new ProChannel looks for the Dark Side, find Console View empty area filler bitmaps, find one missing ProChannel compact mode bitmap (missing in all mods but nobody seems to use compact mode?), test, evaluate and compile all versions. All this after making long recording sessions day after day.

My Questions:

Q: Is this X1b compatible?

No. X1b makes changes to narrow strip and several images must be redesigned. However, I'll convert this to X1b as soon as I can.

Q: I like your mod but prefer darker mute button...

As soon as Skin Editor is available you can customize X1 yourself. Some of my mods are included in Skin Editor. You can use Dark Side Of Sonar as a template for your 'Even Darker Side Of Sonar' skin.

Thank you very much for your encouraging comments. Knowing you like my work keeps me motivated! Now I must continue recording session (with Dark Side beta version, of course) but I'll continue making mod later today. Stay tuned ;-).

Meanwhile, remember to support Ben. Skin Editor will be HUGE!!!

Hi panup.

I have a silly request. This thread is crazy long so if this has been asked, my apologies. I ain't reading 10 +pages. :)

You know in the 'Yellowstone' mod on the main screen it says Sonar X1 Producer Yellowstone. Can you add in 64 bit and 32 bit on that background to correspond with whichever version you are running?

Not a big deal.

Thanks.

You can do it yourself, too: set Sonar wallpaper as Custom in Preferences/Color.
I check if 32 and 64 bit screens are easy enough to do.

Ben was right. 32 and 64 bit Sonars share the same Windows registry entry for wallpaper.
I made a workaround that is DLL mod independent.

Different Wallpapers for 32 and 64 bit Sonar versions:

1) Create a folder called c:\Sonar Wallpaper.
2) Create two BMP files in c:\Sonar Wallpaper called 32-bit_wallpaper.bmp and 64-bit_wallpaper.bmp
3) Create Sonar X1 32-bit.bat and Sonar X1 64-bit.bat  files. You can place them anywhere you like.  Make needed corrections to my example .bat files.
4) Create shortcuts on desktop referring to these .bat files.
5) Start either 32 or 64 bit Sonar X1. Go to Preferences/Colors. Set Wallpaper to custom. Choose image "c:\Sonar Wallpaper\wallpaper.bmp".

Start Sonar using either 32 or 64 bit batch. Wallpaper changes automatically!
In case you use Sonar Plus replace Sonar path (last line of the batch) with full path and filename of Sonar Plus executable.

Sonar X1 32-bit.bat
---clip---
@echo off
c:
cd\Sonar_Wallpaper
copy 32-bit_wallpaper.bmp wallpaper.bmp
C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer\SONARPDR

---clip---

Sonar X1 64-bit.bat
---clip---
@echo off
c:
cd\Sonar_Wallpaper
copy 64-bit_wallpaper.bmp wallpaper.bmp
C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer\SONARPDR

---clip---

Correct me if I'm wrong.
