You do have to give IK some credit as how many companies are still making money by selling people polished turds...

Just as a reminder of the self imposed deadline from IK Pete

IK PeteSampleTank 3 will be out by end of this year, 2013.  If not, I authorize Obi to give you you a serial for T-RackS CS Grand and another for AmpliTube 3 with his and IK's compliments.  That's a lot of $$ worth of software

I've been gathering a few recipes to prepare my crow, but it looks like all I'm getting is some lousy serial numbers...

@IK Obi

I NEVER said IK suck at what they do. I did say the IK forum is run like the gestapo. Why? Because there is no free speech there. Don't put words in my mouth when you can't even process what was said.

If saying that ST3 has been touted as  "in the works" for over 2 years now, that's not saying IK sucks. That's saying you guys at IK have been saying that for over 2 years now. Is that clear enough?

So you guys at IK can keep on making great plug ins and saying ST3 is in the works. Please come back in 2 years when ST3 is done and let us know. Also, please let us know of other great plug ins along the way.

I'll let IK Obi handle it from here forward, but just a one thing he may not have pointed out to you that should be crystal clear, and an offer to show confidence that your final statement about ST3 in 2 years is way off:

1.  There is no "free speech" on any forum, and it isn't any different on a company forum like IK's.  You agreed to whatever rules were set out there on the IK forum and moderators do their job to enforce those rules and if you do not agree with the rules or the enforcement of said rules you are welcome to avoid using the forum or contact an administrator, etc to make your case.  Seems pretty clear, and not unique to the IK forum.

2.  SampleTank 3 will be out by end of this year, 2013.  If not, I authorize Obi to give you you a serial for T-RackS CS Grand and another for AmpliTube 3 with his and IK's compliments.  That's a lot of $$ worth of software, and some crow to eat so you can see that this isn't a bet that is expected to be lost.

I hope that helps.  I'll let IK Obi take it from here.

I don't think IK_Multimedia meant everyone. We'll see what happens though. They'll probably release it before Christmas.

The way I'm hoping it plays out is, they release a 64bit freeware version that supports all their old 32 bit libraries. I'm certainly not interested in Sample Tank 3 at full price.

As far as the custom shop for T-racks and Amplatube, I know it's not a popular thing but to be honest I much prefer the custom shop to the old IK authorization manager that the synths and older programs use.
I just recently upgraded and had to reauthorize all my plugs on a new install and T-racks and amplatube stuff was fast and easy. I just had to log in and restore my gear and everything was automatically downloaded and ready to use. That certainly wasn't the case with the synths protected by the old system. It took a few days to trick the authorization wizard to go ahead and authorize my software.

I also made a purchase, the 670, from the custom shop during the sale, it was easy to use my jampoints as there was an option to include them. I got the 670 for about $20. One thing I would like to see is the allowable jampoints to be automatically deducted. Overall an easier way to shop for purchase and authorize IK plugs IMO.  I would like to see the link to it removed from the Amplatube program but I think they are on the right track with it.

My only beef with IK is the sorry state of affairs with the synths, I don't have sample tank 2 but I have Philharmonic and Sonic synth2. It is not out of the question that I will do business with IK but am curious to see what it's going to cost me and others to upgrade to 64bit support for the sounds I already have.

Re: SampleTank 3 Release 2013/11/24 23:41:32 (permalink)
I had Amplitube 2 that I got for $20 in CW store promotion. To authorize/update it on my off line PC gave me a bad taste and never upgraded to anything.

When they came out with a 64bit version of the Classic Reverb Suite that had to go through T-rackS , and that was a pita to get authorized off-line, I didn't worry about it at all. Just quit using it and figured I was out of luck. Like someone said, ****ed!

I had a lot of jampoints and decided to cash 'em in with a couple CS amps for AT3 Free. The authorization process was so easy on both my on-line and off-line pc that I went ahead a got the $99 AT3 deal.

Then I learned that T-rackS uses the same autho process, got my CRS upgraded to 64bit for free on both my pc's, and am back to using it. The free EQ was a plus too!!

I am liking what IK is doing for PC users at the moment. Based on my experience, they may yet deliver.

I've "piled on" once too many times already!
But, if I'm "honest", Amplitude is my "goto" when laying down tracks, and I don't have a project that something TRackS isn't on somewhere...
X2 "hosed" Tank, Tron, Miraslav, all the old samplers
(I don't know why I'm the only one with issues there, that re-scan thingy killed 'em;
after that X1 & 8.5.3 wouldn't even run them),
so I WILL gladly jump on ST3...

I tried ST 2.5 a long time ago and couldn't use it because of the interface and my eyes. Is there any reason why I should consider ST3 now that I'm heavily invested in Kontakt and Komplete? Is there a killer sound that would drag me into a new sample system?

Obi, if you're out there tell me why I need your sampler rather than continuing to invest in Kontakt libraries.

Lol, I really doubt that IK will be willing to give anyone here those promised plugs if ST3 doesn't launch before 2013 ends. I imagine IK reps are looking in on this thread now and formulating their damage control plans.  I'm sure they know by now if they will be ready to launch by then.

I have little at stake with the few synths I have, I would have got all of their synths during that last group buy, but the events that took place here with their street reps left me with a bad taste.  I haven't gone as far as Larry has by boycotting them completely, but I will not spend more than $25 on anything from them now and future purchases all depends on how they handle Sample tank 3.
If I have to pay anything to upgrade to 64bit for the sounds I already have, I'll stick with what I have and move on to another vendor for my sounds. Then I'll only be interested in whatever they offer for free.

I've never seen a street rep post or forum spam from any of the other big players like NI or EWQL. The thought crosses my mind often that when a company starts spending more money on marketing and street reps, actual research and development suffers and that company may have lost the plot. I am leaning toward this belief about IK, but I'm going to wait to see how this all plays out.

As far as IK Pete goes, if Sample tank 3 isn't released before the first of the year, he is totally indifferent to the truth

How about it Obi, has Pete authorized you to give him his serial numbers that were promised along with Ik's and your compliments?

That is the big question, and by the time ST3 is released we may have Kontakt 6 (or 7 or 8 ). With Komplete plus targeted content from, Sampletekk, Orange Tree, Hollow Sun, Indiginus , Hideaway Studios, Boldersounds, Tonehammer, Soundiron and Kirk Hunter I have the basses well covered.

Everything else is moving forward. Every month ST3 is delayed ther bigger the wow factor thats needed or the lower the price will need to be to get me to buy.

Re: SampleTank 3 Release 2013/11/25 23:45:26 (permalink)
It's pretty sad to see threads like this for a product that at one time was a mainstay for me.  I remember how happy I was when I got Sampletank 1, because I was looking for something to replace my QSR rack mount ROMpler and Sampletank did that.  Sonik Synth 2 was like getting a whole music store full of retro keyboards and it became my main sound source and Sampletank 2 tied the whole thing together into one nice package that worked well with the resources I had available to me in the old system I was using at the time.  This was like 8 years ago though.  I was running Sonar 4 at that time, IIRC.

Like others here, I've updated my equipment and I can run massive sound libraries now.  I've moved on to Kontakt, too, and Sampletank sort of sits on my harddrive now.

I wouldn't say anything as negative as most people are posting here, but I do understand why it's happening.  It seems to me that Sampletank is similar to old PS2 or Xbox games.  We've moved on to the next generation and Sampletank is still in another era.  It doesn't help that we've had the same promises from IK, that Sampletank 3 would be released any day now, for 3 years.  We've watched product after product introduced and Sampletank just got ignored by IK.

If loyal diehards like me have given up,,, I really do think they have a high bar to get over.  I do have to acknowledge that at one time I did love Sampletank, and all the extra libraries, though.  It served me well for a long time,,, but I'm a Kontakt user now.

Ah the IK Pete quote - I knew they had promised something, well remembered!
And IK Pete is / was?? Is he IK Obi's boss?
So it looks all us long suffering Sampletank owners will be getting some new IK products if they do not release Sampletank 3 by the end of this year - do you think we should start to help them by collecting contact details of all the people they have to give these new products to - just in case their records are as out of date as Sampletank!!!!!

Promises for free software were only made to certain people.  There was never a blanket promise to all ST owners.  Also, from what I've read at KVR (where a few of those promises were made to specific people), they are going to honor those promises.

Promises for free software were only made to certain people.  There was never a blanket promise to all ST owners.  Also, from what I've read at KVR (where a few of those promises were made to specific people), they are going to honor those promises.

Correct.

I was one of those involved in that conversation...

And I'm willing to bet I don't get anything...they always have a way of "copping" out...
As a matter of fact...it was MY THREAD!

I know IK all to well...there were many of us here involved in that thread...
Time will tell and we shall see ...anyone placing bets?

I'll walk out on a ledge here. I'll bet (nothing) that ST3 may be shown at NAMM but it won't be available for purchase yet...

Purrrfect Audio DAW here.  Wow!...

That is not much of a bet. You could at least put up your complementary T-RackS CS Grand and AmpliTube 3 licenses.
