Yeah, same here. That's how my oldest niece use to introduce me to her new friends. 'Meet my Uncle Dumb A$$' I'm still not sure what a CTFO dude is though...

In that case, it's actually "chill the f*** out" And yes, I had to look that one up.

cclarry Grem, if you notice in my post I said "I assume" and then followed that by "You know what they say about that" (you make an A S S of U and ME)
THAT is what I meant....sorry you misinterpreted it...
I am from the US. I know what Larry meant by his statement. What I have an objection to , and I say it was uncalled for, is his use of (you make an A S S of U and ME) from his post. I didn't make an assumption. He did. So he didn't need to make it a point that I (which is the you reference) made the assumption, thus making an ass out he and I. Again I say CTFO! This is really uncalled for! : P

I wish I could understand all this passion over a new softsynth. IMO, from the videos I've seen so far about ST3. There's really nothing new about ST3 except 64bit and a few more gb of sounds. I really think to be a viable competitive product, ST3 needs to be one step ahead of what is available now from other VSTi vendors. The next step in the evolution of virtual instruments. From what I'm seeing that isn't ST3. As far as the honesty of the IK reps. I have to agree, if they state things are going to happen with the conviction that they did. It's a lie plain and simple in my book. I remember a few years back during another scuffle that Obi had with another member. He was asserting that he was just an average guy that just so happened to work for IK, but wasn't being paid to be here in the forum. It is my belief that was a total lie. As far as other vendors posting here, I've never seen any of them post the way that IK use to bombard this forum with the cut and paste hyperbole and marketing hype. IMO it was no less sleazy than the furniture and video encoder spammers. I remember Obi debating someone once claiming something like, All the original makers of the compressors they emulate much prefer IK's because all the others failed to take into account the alloy of the case screws, just ask them, or something of that nature, .... Total BS IMO and has no place here... With all that said I do recognize that IK has been quite restrained since the last Peter encounter and I do appreciate that. I will refrain on any more IK bashing on my part as long as they conduct themselves with the same class as the other vendors that come.

I have never claimed to be anything I'm not. I am an IK employee. There was a time on the forums that I wasn't and I was a fan of IK. Since then I have made it more than clear. I'm staying out of bickering and arguing, but I won't let people say I wasn't being clear about my affiliation with IK. To the rest of you, best of luck in your music making and gear loving lives.

Now Obi, I'll go looking for the thread, it wasn't that long ago and you were wearing the IK banner and your name was IK Obi then, if you were a fanboy trying to get hired there and made that statement, I would say you were indeed compensated wouldn't you? Sorry not buying it here ole pal Really no dishonor IMO, I understand sales and sales is your duty. The Cakewalk software forum is not an IK infomercial though. I do appreciate the absence of that...

I remember a while back that Obi stated his position was something along the lines of director of social media for IK which effectively means that it's his job to spam forums and create excitement for their products vaporware.

Guys, Opinion and a suggestion please. There's another forum for a major DAW out there in the ozone where good potential energy was diverted into fights and rage. They had to lock the carnage into a "lounge" forum, wisely inaccessible unless you actually logged into the thing. Then the blood feast could continue without causing damage to the public flow.. Got folks here like Larry, keeping us up to the minute informed of things we could miss out on. Know Grem from way back. Good musician, tech savy and a major contributer to the evolution of HeadCase.Heavy dude. Energy is vital to forward progress and time is too ****ing short to cyber bash each other. If we are to survive and get our GAS karma expressed and transcended, we need the fire to be aimed at new discoveries and analytics. Reactions to actions that are short of communal welfare are an energetic loss, and a waste for all of us. Someone back in this thread suggested that all commercial hawking be banned. Maybe a twist in that thought would work out better. What about a dedicated forum for third party sellers. That would possibly serve the vendors even better, since there would be a consolidated place to view new software offers. For me, could do a daily check there and here to keep current. Moderators could earn their keep by moving random ads to that area if they show up here. This area should be for the analysis of software as well as notifications of new finds that would be of interest. Vibe here should be hard on up beat and uplifting progressive, collectively cooperative around here if this section of the forum is to provide any useful benefit 200 years from now. Thoughts if this would work? Peace, reconcilliation and all that mushy s***, John

Here's my deal...as long as the Company treats me with dignity and respect as a paying customer, and does their best to get the job done, I'll support them 110 percent. Even AFTER all I say...I still promote IK deals here....even though I won't buy them. I don't DEMAND that anyone not buy...I express WHY they shouldn't buy...
None of these companies pay me to find the deals, the information, the discussions, or to share their discounts....I do it for THIS FORUM..and THIS FORUM ONLY....even though I'm on other forums...
But when a company starts doing shady things, by Zeus...I'm gonna give 'em H E double toothpicks for it.
The Cakewalk X2a deal...they were gonna get a butt stompin' over it...as they SHOULD have...but I let that slide...this time...but if they pull any more "Here today, gone tomorrow, OH, we're back...here's a new version, AND we've raised the price, because we added a ton of 3rd party stuff, that you probably already have, but NEW customers DON'T...NOW PAY ME" you can rest assured I'll be raising holy Key Biscayne Florida on 'em...and NOT buying anything they offer after that...
It's not good business to do that to your customers...especially the one's who BUILT YOUR COMPANY, to go after new business at the ADDED expense to your existing customers. By all means, go after new business, but NOT at the expense of, and lack of supporting, your existing customers. Mark my words...that will COST YOU, and COST YOU BIG TIME!!!
I will make it my life's mission to make sure it gets A LOT of PUBLIC attention...and IK should be sighing a HUGE sigh of relief that I haven't BLASTED THEM in their forum, or on their Facebook Page.... but that options not off the table...believe me...
I don't think we need a separate forum...we just need to respect each others right to express our opinions...professionally...not in attacking others for their opinions. If someone rebutts, respond in kind. And, if roads don't cross, agree to disagree.
I have my moments, I'll admit...especially if you attack me PERSONALLY...but I don't feel any justification whatsoever for anyone coming to the defense of IK (except for those who get PAID to do so)...not after all they've done in regards to the neglect of this product line...sorry...I've lived it..and stand firm.
And those who know...KNOW....

This whole ik bashing is, well, no disrespect... but...kind of dumb. Who cares if they never updated it. It works. It still works now. I say move on and buy something new if its not working for you. I stayed at 8.5 and then just went to studio one, since I got tired of Sonars flaky audio engine. No drama, I just buy and use what works for me. And who cares if they make istuff. That's got noting to do with anything. I've used sampletank on a few songs over the years. But it sounds dated so I moved on. I still fire it up once in a while when Im looking for bread n butter type sounds. But ive got way better stuff now. Same with Reason. It was awesome at first, but I got of tired of their ways and sound. So I moved on. And really, big deal if they didn't meet their release deadlines. The only ones hurt by that are ik. They lose customers they could have had. I know I wouldn't pay $300 for the new version. Maybe like $150 as a new customer and $50 as an upgrade. I've got other software that was never updated, but it works. I do agree about their spam. And the ik reps sure come off with some attitude and not very professional. But whatever. If the product works, that's all that matters. Sampletank is a classic.

These comments describe exactly how I feel about this whole thing. I really don't get the intensity over a freakin' ROMpler! When it comes to software companies, people always develop this weird attitude like they owe you something. I've heard the word "investment" thrown around these forums way too many times. Buying Sampletank 2 was not an investment. You saw the ads, read a couple of reviews, checked out the price, decided "that seems reasonable", then used it. No one ever said " Well I'll buy it, but only as an investment towards sampletank 3, and only if it never goes on sale!" And everyone keeps knocking the fact that they make Iproducts. Has anyone considered the fact that if they didn't make istuff there might never be ST3. Incidentally, I think it's cute that people think the istuff is less "pro" than their other products. Really? A software ROMpler is no more or less pro then Sampletank on an ipad.

Completely disagree... We don't mind the iCraps...and we don't mind the sales....we mind that they completely neglected this Product Line (5 products) to develop and market iCraps....that's the issue. This products last update was almost 5 years ago. As a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time Music Industry Person, I expect a Company to support the products that I've invest my money in. If they don't, then they've failed. You may be completely content. That's fine. But the vast majority are NOT. Sorry. When we use and rely on a product, we expect product support...not product NEGLECT. What you expect may be entirely different, and that's fine. But those of us who DO USE and RELY on these things, and the companies that make them to support them, is an entirely different story.

Support? Are you talking about technical support? Because if there are major bugs in your version of Sampletank then I can understand your frustration if it's not being addressed. However if you mean product upgrade/ next version type of support then that makes no sense. That's not support. I understand that 10 years is a long time, especially if they've made promises to the contrary. But again, they don't owe anybody anything.

Completely disagree... They owe the customers who invested in their software the support that comes with it. If technology moves to 64 bit (now more then 5 years old) and DAW's, VST's, VSTi's, and EVERYTHING has gone there, and you turn you back on the customers who are following those movements and staying abreast, you've failed your customer. Support is MORE then just bugs. It means MAINTAINING the product, keeping it up to date, and current, AND, above all, usable, which for MOST, this product is barely. You have the right to your opinion, and if YOU don't care that the product is neglected - GREAT! But don't say that the REST of us aren't owed anything, just because you feel they don't owe YOU. But, as I stated before, the MAJORITY consensus is that they have failed....and we do feel that they owe us the support and maintenance, that comes with a product that you've paid good money for...
