Hang on, you're talking about moving things out of time with each other, not performance latency. You'll get both sync and and phase errors doing that. It's not the same thing as performance latency at all.

More relevantly, they're exactly the same kind of arguments as the rest of this thread has comprehensively debunked. Has nobody else noticed this?

Calm down dear.

I don't hear small latency deviations but I notice that when I'm having trouble tracking I've usually gone over my normal 9 ms threshold.

Re:Sound Quality of Sonar X1 2012/03/13 20:18:09 (permalink)
Actually, I will say that 64 bit does provide better overall sound, that's a fact, X1 does sound a little better. Things goes wrong where all this sits in the frequency and the effect of digital shift, uneven harmonics etc... Fortunately, the ProChannel with the tube emulation does bring this down to earth so-to-speak, a nice touch.
I've never had a problem with Sonar and music production with regards to sound, it's the constant updates and a few other issues I've had. I think Sonar is up there sound-wise or actually superior to many others in that regard.
I guess it's the test dummy factor I don't like. If someone buys a product it should support previous soundcards, interface, I/O etc...  It should NOT be hyped, Sonar X1 was.
X1 will remain on my notebook until I see relative calm on this forum and then I'll build a new PC, possibly Win 8 by then. I don't mind spending the bucks when all is well. Sonar 8.5 seems OK for now.  In fact Sonar 8.5 does stuff that PT's may never achieve.

That said,  my Win XP machine runs perfectly and is stable as an atomic clock.  Sonar 8.5 is happy there!

I may have my issues with Cakewalk but I'm not going to say that X1 was a waste of time, because it isn't. It's a fine program.  But it's delicate, you need to be able to carry your customers along with you.  X1 was free so I guess I shouldn't complain, but it does get frustrating at times.

If the customer is happy so am I, in a studio environment it should be stress free without issues.

X1 will be for another time down the road, but it should have been an easy transition, X1 should have worked without issue on my Win XP machine, however, this wasn't the case. Sound-wise and for the record I believe X1 is a small step further... But in the world of MP-3 well?

'Best' is a subjective term...

You'll need evidence to back that up...

I wonder who will kill the thread. Some people believe they are thread-killers. They hate to post on a thread because no one ever responds to them. Their insecurities create a fear of posting. They sense no one likes them and don't wish to prove it by being the last and only unanswered post in the thread. Is that person you? Only one way to find out.

One possible way is to move the thread to the Kinetic forum on this site. The last person who went in there went in to announce that there was now a cure for smallpox.

I've always wondered about that. I've been here for years, and I don't even know what Kinetic is. It's kind of like the dodgy part of town. If I go in there, should I take a weapon?

Evidence? Evidence?!
I would show evidence but your doubting and skepticism will effect the quantum ionic homeopsychopathological field that protects the purity of my answer. One must realize that believing is seeing (or hearing) so the only way you will agree with my assertion is 1) you agree with my assertion and 2) my assertion is something that you agree with. Given these two criteria, and a completely open mind- open so wide that your brain nearly falls out, I think you will find my evidence satisfactory.

What happened to bass tracks and drum tracks? I suppose it's because if you can't play guitar well then you take up the bass. If you're not musical at all you become a drummer.
