It may be directed toward the "moderators" but it is now a public thread unlocked and open to all. I too am trying to guess what might be the offending postings that you find unacceptable. I have my own group of posters that I find just a bit tiresome at times. I also have come up against a poster that I found rather scary. That was taken care of. Most here are in my view very nice people. In any group there is bound to be some that irritate without even knowing that they do. That is life.

are you talking about me, John? I don't like your tone! I am not "scary", I am not, I am not, I am not!!!

Just kidding!

But seriously, Susan, I am with you on this. Regarding your concerns; there may be some who read between the lines you wrote when there was nothing between the lines, and so your concerns are valid -even though some may think there is more behind those concerns.

We are all different, John made a good point of that and so what some may consider ok, others are offended. I am not implying who is "wrong" or Right", but I would like to take this opportunity to say to who ever will listen:

PLEASE CONSIDER OTHERS WHEN POSTING.

We all like you Susan and those who know you don't want to offend you . And as John stated, most people here are nice!

F@KKER

disclaimer: I am sorry for offending anyone, it was unintentional

Someone said:
I've had more time to play with this, and am withdrawing the bug remarks.
This appears to work as designed and is actually a pretty cool feature.

yeah obviously we should better just civilly discuss about music...
but personally i havent come across rude posters yet...so i just felt this thread a bit dramatizing...i know you just were suggesting your point to the admins but since i am always a bit hyperactive in front of my laptop i just had to write a sort of critical reply :-)

i wish you a nice day and hopefully suave behaviour will again spread there where it lacks...

cheers

Exactly! You never know who's watching. I thought that was the point of the TOS -- since the forum is open to everyone, it's best to keep it "clean". This has nothing to do with political or any other "correctness".

Thanks-

Hi yorolpal-
ORIGINAL: yorolpal

Which avatars and what language are we speaking of here? Could you be a bit more specific? To what exactly are the forum admins supposed to step up to? (please pardon my dangling preposition) I mean your original post is fairly generic. Is there someone(s) or something(s) that has particularly run afoul of the TOS in your opinion? I guess I kind of feel like this is like one of those "we can't help you until you provide us your system specs" sort of deals. As my momma would say, "what's got ya so het up, girl"? Just curious.

This was directed to the forum moderators, so no need for anyone here to help. I'm a little surprised that some of what's gone on lately is considered acceptable under the TOS, that's all. If you're comfortable with all of it, fine, and if you have no idea what I'm talking about that's fine, too!

-Susan

Maybe I'm missing something, and please forgive me if I am, but I'm not seeing anything offensive?
I do a lot of CCM, gospel music etc. I am a Christian and generally have a pretty low tolerance for offensive garbage but I'm not seeing this?

I'm not a prude at all guys so don't run away !

I browse and search when I am looking for an answer so don't post that much. This thread appears a bit like a storm in a tea cup to me
surely most people who post on here are adult enough to walk away from threads they don't like. If you really want a highly moderated board jumping on everyone that may appear a little out line to theirs or your moral standards then fine. I think it isn't needed and could well have the opposite effect to that the some of you appear to be seeking. JMHO

Hi, Im a newbie from the UK since the New Year and this resource is really important to me. I have to say I agree with fellow newbie tomflair here. People are people and we cant expect everyone to be exactly like we are, nor "moderate" them if they merely annoy us or dont get to the point in the way we would like them to. After all, we may be having exactly the same effect on someone else!!! Internet forums are a different format of social interaction and although we should expect the same mechanisms of acceptance / rejection to people and behaviours that occurs at a direct social level, everything plays out in a different dimension amd timescale that I believe requires on online "live and let live" sensibility to oil the wheels of communication. If anyone has directly offended anyone and it it not obvious to the moral majority, then we need the direct reference to the slight before we can even begin to pass a consensus judgement.

Love and peace

You weren't aware that there were women in this forum before her post?

Seriously, though, I'm with those who suggest that folks should be careful what they wish for. The admonitions that appear now and again seem to work fairly well and the moderators do show up when things get too much out of hand (even if somewhat arbitrarily), so the status quo IMHO, is not that bad, especially with the kinds of "cures" moderators sometimes implement in other forums.

Hi all

I know we're all probably guilty of using the asterisks instead of the correct letters when using profanity and I know the TOS don't allow this, but I've never come across a fully-spelled swear word - to me that would be unacceptable.

As for member's avatars, the only one I've seen that makes me a little uncomfortable is the one that uses the Blind Faith album cover of a topless young girl.

Let's be honest, I know it's iconic and all that bo*****s but if someone posted an image of any other topless 13/14 [?] year old girl anywhere on the web they'd probably be getting a knock on the door from the old bill wanting to have a good look through their hard drive while they were in custody.

To me, using that image is at best naive, at worse deliberately provocative?

Oh, almost forgot [feel free to copy and use whenever you get the urge]:

Best wishes

well i dont like that cover either but it doesnt remind me an 14 year old girl...i think it looks more like some hippie woman - and yes there are breasts there but the whole picture isn´t anyhow sexual.(there are 2500 old greek paintings that are more vulgar)..since i am european i find it a bit strange how americans ( and pleeeease dont get me wrong . i dont wanna be polemic) are so ambivalent to the whole nudity and vulgarity issue...
as american culture is transported to europe it just looks like there are only extremes: american pornindustry / guns / gangs / and on the other hand people who are extremely conservative...as far as i am concerned i can live with "almost" everything that does not restrict my own liberty - and deviant behaviour of others doesnt influence my personality...

cheers

maybe you just should back out from this specific thread and let us all discuss this - since you pointed out an issue that really motivates a lot of people to post

i think that unless you do so - many more pepople will try to discuss this with you although you didnt want to do so ...

PS: i didnt mean that you shouldnt post here anymore - it was hust a suggestion because you seem to get a bit nerved...

Susan, can i suggest, if you find a post offensive...email the forum moderators, quoting the post or posts you find offensive and why..do it offline.

that might get you more action other than a blanket question...

everyone sees things in a different light...and what one finds funny, others might find offensive.

cheers
