Mod Bod

Do you have an old version that just changes the Pre/Post buttons?  I tried the Blue Light special and it was a bit over the top for my tastes.  All I want is the Pre/Post change and maybe the Stereo/Mono button.

Here is customized customization for you:

Download Simple Mod Bod x86

Download Simple Mod Bod x64

Features:
- Pre/Post button
- Mono/Stereo button

You said it. Thanks for your efforts - really great stuff.

Customization truly is the path forward for the perfect artist toolset that works for each of us as close to our different ways of thinking as possible. All the heated arguments about too many buttons/too few, general appearance, menus - everything - can all be answered by allowing full and complete customization of all menus, colors, buttons, layouts, mouse actions, keys, etc.  People who don't get it or won't put forth the effort to customize (many people never bothered to customize menus or toolbars in 8.5.3 and in my opinion have no basis to question the "losses" some of us claim in X1) have really scared Cakewalk away from it I think - which is why customization was reduced in X1 even after they had put so much effort forth to start down this path. Shame on you Cakewalk, and on those who think this was a step forward. That 'other' DAW is definitely behind Cakewalk in elegance, and ease of use still, but its customization options allow it to actually surpass all of that in performance and visual appeal after a substantial customization effort from the user, and its likely it will be second to none if its developers ever clean up the default configuration and add a couple missing key features. Being able to optimize menus, mouse actions, keys, colors, and layouts for your way of thinking and your specific need (eg. midi vs audio recording) is such an enhancement that it blows away any other feature I can think of.

If Cakewalk did allow us to customize as much as possible and provided basic GUI/menu presets for beginning, intermediate, advanced, MIDI, live recording, whatever etc. I think they would actually spend less resources giving each type of customer what they want than the current approach - which is trying to find a middle ground that may not exist. X1 has forced users to operate in a very specific way, and the end result is pleasing some and alienating others. Granted providing for customization requires initial development time - but by getting the community involved for much of the end labor as proven by your example panup, they reduce the effort of rolling out full customizations.

Great job again! I just donated $5. Get yourself a beer.

I just donated $15.
I'm not sure if $5 is enough for a beer in Finland.

But seriously, the effort put up by pnaup is worth donating!!!

+1000

Come up with your good basic default that most people will like (say your current skylight) but then allow people to change it as much as they want.   Wallah, both groups happy, much less ranting on the forums.

A great example I think of this is your new automation menu where you can't right click to add automation.   If you want a new menu, put it in, but don't take away my right click !

Current patch works only if TTSRES90.dll is English.

I should install all Sonar language versions as 32 and 64 bit to be able to deliver patches for all versions - not possible at this moment because my PC would be a total Sonar X1 mess after that!!!

I have to thank you for making the black background mod. It is very nice to not use Sonar and get so much eye fatigue. Eye fatigue is a real problem for me since I have low vision.

Nice work!

Yeah but the more support panup gets and the more practice he gets at the mods the better the X1b mods will be. If he continues his generosity through that release.

Evolution Theory 1.00 now available for download.
Download page

Known issues:
- Red MIDI activity blinking not yet solved. Difficult.
- Console View Arpeggiator section under construction.
- Channel selecting in Console View not perfected; some bitmaps get not changed to selection color.
- Console View still under constuction *)

*) Some bitmaps are 8 bit per channel. There are 1-2 bitmaps that lose color information when Sonar puts them on display. Console View Mains section's almost bitmap should be the same color as the rest of the Console View.  Am I poker face enough to send Cakewalk Feature Request to update their BMP handling routines support 24 and 32 bit files in order to hack their program easier?

In the next version I may delete Console View customization and do it again from scratch.

Reverse engineering is slow work. If there is a Baker willing to help please send me GUI specifications.... You can send it anonymously!

Panup, tried it in X1 Studio, and it works fine.  Great work, although some of the changes are a bit too much for me.  Also would rather see a more distinctive line between strips in the console view.

Love your work Panup! I think the Blue Light version looks great, especially with X1's Light colors for clips. Looking forward to trying your latest Evolution_theory. Being able to color customize was something I really missed from earlier versions. It's surprising how even this small amount of customization is inspiring. Cakewalk should hire you immediately :)

Just a heads up about your website Panup. I'm having some layout issues in IE8 similar to the ones mentioned earlier in this thread (lots of overlapping text/links).
Thanks,

Is it possible to get some feature list/changelog?

I installed your mod, it makes x1 look all warm and fuzzy ;-), but I'd like to know if the colors is all you've changed (guess not)...

EDIT: is it possible for you do something about this problem? http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2172481
the prob is basically that you have to click the actual small number of the track for it to be selected. I would like to just click anywhere on the track or on the track in the console view and have it selected so I can apply solo/mute etc.

EDIT: BTW - have you changed anything about the snap feature? it seems to apply the snap function when I drag clips/clips edges. x1 never did this before I believe, and I was really looking for a way to fix this.

Complete changelog is unavailable. Changelog from previous mod to Evolution Theory is posted last night, look thread backwards a few messages.
Colors and graphics has been changed. Also several dialog windows have been rezied. Check prefrences tabs and you'll see what I mean. Some windows MAY be too big for small display resolutions.

Select problem: Can't be fixed by DLL mod. Feature Request for Cakewalk!
Snap feature: Nothing changed. Wait for X1b...

Lighter mod version coming soon - Console View will be reverted to original.

Hi Panup
Been following this with interest and was about to try this mod out. However when I download the file from your link for the new blue light mod, my norton kicks it out as a threat, any one else had this?

Ignore Norton's message.
It believes that mod is doing something illegal because it does modifications to a DLL.  In this case modification is just what we want to do.

Question - does this also work with X1 Studio?  I do not have Producer.
I have no clue. Try?

Panup, tried it in X1 Studio, and it works fine.  Great work, although some of the changes are a bit too much for me.  Also would rather see a more distinctive line between strips in the console view.

Thanks for information.
Soon coming a new mod without console view skin. It restores lines between strips.

Is there any way of getting color customization for track headers and console strips?  I would like to see, for instance, all my guitar tracks red, vocals blue, drums green, etc. Thank-you so much for all your hard work. This is great!
