Those of us who have been Cakewalk users for going 20 years understand how great this deal is. Cakewalk are banking on turning more JJC users into long term customers and not the fair weather ones who will go crying off the Steinberg or throw their toys out of the pram. Subscription is the new model as far as creative products is concerned. The price point is low enough for people to take a punt and you will get new features as often as you used to and then some. I am getting used to the new features and of course thankfully it's not overwhelming us with things. Well done Cakewalk.

As long as there is no break in payments after month 3 (ie, you pay month 4, 5, etc...) then the "special" price will continue until you've paid the full 12.

I believe if you miss a payment or two (or three or four) then the payment will revert to the "standard" rate.

As far as I am aware you can't mix and match between monthly payment and full payment (in one year),  which is what you seem to be asking.   You CAN pay monthly for this year and then pay in full up front next year.

It's the last new version.  From now on everything will be updates   (unless they lump all the updates together and call it a new version)
You should do a fresh install and let it take the settings from your X3e install.

Hi all,
Here's a fairly naiive question on installing Platinum upgrade from X3(e):
If I install, does it completely replace the X3 set-up, or is the X3 set up still available. I'm basically worried about any current work being upset by virtual instruments not being in expected places, or previous instruments being no longer available.
Also - Since I arrived at X3 via two upgrades (I installed X1, upgraded to X2 then upgraded to X3), I'm hoping the Platinum upgrade is Ok over this?
(I also assume that if I ever have to replace the hard disk, I'll have to go through the same Install/upgrades all over again and have to re-register at every stage).

Thanks to anyone who can answer
Jerry

Like all other Sonar installation, they are seperate from each other and completely independent of each other. Be careful though uninstalling earlier versions once you've installed this version. There is some file sharing going on and it's easy to lose some previous functionality.

You only need to install Sonar, Craig's fx chains. Install the help and tutorial material if you want them.

Had to set Audio Drivers. It picked up ASIO4All for my MOTU 828 Mk II but the ins and outs were not correct and the correct ones were greyed out. No big deal because every Xx (or Cantabile or Overture or Finale) I installed did the same thing. I just revert to  WDM and re-profile then set it back to ASO4All and all the ins and outs are selectable again.

Are you aware that there is (apparently) an ASIO driver for your interface ?  If so, you shouldn't be using ASIO4ALL with it.  From the manual :

"The 828mkII also includes a Windows ASIO driver for multi-channel compatibility with any audio application that supports ASIO drivers."

Hi there,

I went for monthly payments (Platinum) via PayPal, but could you shed some light on how are the future payments going to work? Is it going to be handled automatically through PayPal? In my PayPal account Cakewalk is not marked as "Subscription" but as "Credit card payment" and is also marked as Completed.

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards,
Marek

Everybody...  Please stop calling it subscription.   It is not.

In case someone pay for less then 12 months monthly, the result is the same as when it is subscription.

So, I think it is reasonable to distinguish:
  • up front payment - you buy current version plus support and updates next 12 month
  • you pay 12+ monthly - you buy membership for the period you pay (and can keep everything you have at the end, so that is NOT subscription
  • you pay <12 monthly - you buy subscription, you can use the product when you pay and you get nothing once you no longer pay
So, the subscription is now POSSIBLE. But that is not the only option.

Thanks for that! True. The problem is that the MOTU ASIO driver simply will not deliver at anything less than 512 samples without some random pops and crackles, while I can get ASIO4All to run clean at 64 samples. I don't know what the issue is. I have the latest drivers. This has always been the case with the 828 Mk II as far as I can remember. I could be wrong as my main system has been SCOPE (with bulletproof ASIO) until I finally replaced my aging PC with a game spec laptop.  I might build a new desktop with PCI slots for all the Creamware cards (one of these days).  I just love SCOPE but building a machine to support it is not financially feasible now.  The laptop is great, especially live.  As far as the MOTU 828 Mk II is concerned I'm sure there is some low level driver issue with the ASIO and I really don't want to spend my life researching and experimenting to get it to work when I can get what I need from ASIO4all or even the WDM drivers and make music!

If anyone else has some ideas about the 828 MkII running with the native MOTU ASIO drivers Please PM as I'm definitely open to that. Just bear in mind that I've been through all the theories and Google stuff.

It is a subscription. It always has been a subscription:

""the action of making or agreeing to make an advance payment in order to receive or participate in something"

We have been purchasing VERSION subscriptions, lasting at least a year and often longer. X3 was a 16 month subscription and we received five "issues" (versions).

A subscription does not have to mean getting a new "issue" every month, week, or quarter.

Paying monthly does not make anything a subscription. It is a payment plan.

That I make monthly payments for my house mortgage does not make my house a subscription.

But if I do not pay a few payments, the functionality of the house will change to not-living-in-this-house mode.

Another year of payments and I will "own" it.

Then I will get a new mortgage to make improvements.

Hi there,

Ok - I'm all Platinumed-up, and it was a painless exercise, straight in!
However I do have an issue registering Dimension-Pro; when clicking on the register button (in the grey D-Pro pop up box) I'm taken to a page which says this product is already registered; If I enter the reg-code given in Command Centre, I get an "invalid code" message (and the serial number is different to that given in the D-Pro pop-up box).

This also happens back in the X3 set-up too.

Any thoughts?
Jerry

Wild guess: Could be Dimension Pro 1.5 setup detects your previous version and doesn't need to update it.

ASIO4All is just a wrapper around WDM to make it look like ASIO.  You might as well just use the WDM driver direct.

See :

If you'd like further discussion, I guess it might be better to start a thread in the Hardware forum.

Thanks! I've read those! ASIO4All works cleaner than the WDM drivers for me. I don't know why but it does!

No problem. Sounds like you have an issue that needs to be escalated to support. Does Dimension show up in your Synth list? (insert menu or browser window)?

Is there ANY NEW update to the VERY archaic Drum Map Mgr that hasn't been updated since Sonar 3?  I haven't seen any evidence of it, and it that's the case, THAT is PATHETIC! I mean, REALLY, GUYS?  I wanna know just how many drummers there are on the developer staff.  And before anyone lectures me on "Did I properly submit my feature requests to the correct webpage?"  YES, INDEEDY, I sure did.

I would like the answer to this too

I apologise if I missed that earlier but when exactly the subscription/membership starts:
1. the moment of purchase
2. the moment of download
3. the moment of instalation
4. the moment of first launch

For some of us this can be days or even weeks apart.
